It looks like the lids don't stay up by themselves. Obviously not a crazy big issue, but I go back and forth frequently to my underseat storage and leaving the seats up is easy. I wouldn't like the first world problem of lifting, holding and closing the lids every couple of minutes. I could be wrong, but none of the pictures show a view of it in the truck with the lids up and not being held by a hand. I don't see any spring mechanisms or gas struts/springs/lifts on it either. Looks like standard hinges. I don't like the price, but there aren't many options.

So the one that is in my truck does not have the gas springs in it. We didn't know it wouldn't stay up until I got it into my truck which was pretty irritating since this is the third prototype. I had my engineer add in the mounting points for the gas springs, so we will have them on there.

Yeah, it’s frustrating to spend $60K+ on a truck, and then have to rig something out of plywood, just to have a flat surface in the back, for a dog crate. This is really my only complaint with the truck, but damn.

This is one area where the Titan MURDERED the Tundra - they have a locking storage cover, that folds out flat. Done!!!
Check it out, 35 sec into the vid: https://youtu.be/IsPR4kPJfVw

Personally, I think that storage area was an afterthought - the high-roller trims will be hybrid, and won’t be an issue, so they just threw in the bins for the ham & egger trims. They don’t care to invest much more than that into making them actually useful, haha

So does the hybrid have a cover? Victory 4x4 makes an under seat molle panel for the hybrid and in the picture you can see a TUNDRA under seat cover. If so I am sure it could be modified to work for our non hybrid models.

I am working on a lid for my storage space under the back seat. The seat belts and anchors are an issue but I think I can make it work. Stay tuned.

Is it possible to make to cut out for seatbelts and anchors? I wish someone would make a lid, I’d buy in a heartbeat.

I'm not saying this because I'm blindly loyal to Toyota and pick apart all other makes. Toyota could use a little help in the aesthetics design and creature comforts dept, that's for sure. If I could meld the auto makers together, I'd have Toyota build the the truck, have Ford in charge of interior design and GM in charge of body and wheel design. I rather like Toyota's design from a simplicity, reliability and redundancy point of view.
That said, that back seat setup in that vid looked like a great concept, but I imagine it's cheaply made, has a lot of moving, rattling parts and probably ends up with broken parts that are expensive to replace. Toyota tends to keep the Tundra rather simple compared to other trucks. I'm actually okay with that.

Just have to notch around them and maybe make some supports. I need to mock some up in CAD (Cardboard Aided Design) and then make them in 1/4" plywood.

I was thinking the center supports could go in the movable partition slots. Maybe even use the partitions that came with our truck and add shim on top of them to make up height difference if there is gap between cover and partition.

I had a Black plastic cover made for the cargo storage area on a 2023 1794 CrewMax. I had the OEM braces replaced to level the top. The back clears the belts etc. with no issues with the seats in an up or down position. The top I attached with Velcro for easy removal and access. Hope this information helps. Cost $250 if I consider having more made, might deliver in 250 mile area of Grand Junction, CO

I’d buy one I’m in Southern California but I’d probably pay for shipping no problem.

Is this measured in a CAD file or anything? Meaning if I had a cnc plastic shop near me could they make it from a template? Then I’d just pay you for your design? Thanks or I’d buy one regardless.

I think the hybrid has no underseat storage. The HV battery there and its covered.

And it's what? I know there isn't storage, but the access cover might do the trick.

Your under-seat storage box looks fantastic. There is only one thing I think I would do for future designs and that would be to add one or two removable/adjustable vertical dividers with different slot locations so you can divide up the storage compartments if you want to (like post #44).

So the storage is $915.95 which is our initial pricing on it. It comes with all the mounting hardware which includes tamper proof screws that make it so you need a special bit to remove the mounting screws. Here is the link to purchase: https://esptruck.com/products/tundra-2022
We also have the install video on YouTube. Here is the link to that: https://youtu.be/v50sxyDN9Vs

Thank you! The one shown in the video is our prototype. The production units have gas assist springs to hold the lids open.
