I’m putting tow mirrors on my 2007 Tundra. I have the OEM socket and plug ,but they provided a 2wire plug with extra wire , I’m assuming they are for a LED running lights ? The only thing different than OEM ., is led running lights . Where is the best place to connect them?

Depends on the specific brand mirror - the OEM tow mirrors have the running lights integrated and that circuit should already be at the mirror plug. If you got the “Chevy style” mirrors, they typically have led “backup” lights that have to be routed and terminated in the cab to either the reverse light circuit (if you want them as reverse lights) or cargo light circuit or even a dedicated switch. I’d have to actually pull up the 2007 wiring diagram (not at my computer right now) to take a look at the signal light circuit info.

    Which mirrors did you get?

Continuing from my last post - the "side marker" lights on the OEM tow mirrors are pre-wired on the 2007 trucks. From the 2007 EWD, page 419, this is the part of the circuits for those marker lights (which is separate from the turn signals). These show that the driver's side should be pin 9 and pin 3 (which is actually a common ground for many of the mirror functions), and on the passenger side it is also pin 9 (but different color) and 3. The view of the connector is looking directly at the "front" (not where the wires enter the back).
    upload_2021-6-30_8-37-33.jpg upload_2021-6-30_8-39-43.jpg

So, again, without knowing what actual mirrors you have (and what functions they include), it's hard to know specifically what the extra connector is for.

Is there anyway someone can help me? Seems like the right post. I have 2012 Tundra with 156,000 miles and I recently got it out the shop due to some diteriated wiring in the main wire harness on the left (passenger) side of the engine. It caused one Injector to shut down and resemble a misfire. Took them about 2 months to fix it and when I dropped it off the ac worked fine. Now it doesn't work at all and it's really hot in south Louisiana. Would anyone know the color code of the wire/wires that lead from the ac to the relay? I suspect it's another bad wire that is effecting this and was possibly bumped or something while the other wires were being fixed. Otherwise this will be pretty hard to find. Going 2 months without my truck was really difficult and I can't drop it off during the daytime for a day or a week or 2 months again. So I figured I would try to find the wire myself and fix. There are so many wires in the main harness under the hood though.

Start with this document to read up on how to use the wiring diagrams:

    Introductory information

Then download the 2012 EWD 2012 Tundra EWD - EM18N0U

DON'T rely on colors - while they SHOULD be correct, they are not always accurate (minor in-line changes in production or suppliers). ALWAYS go by connector and pin.
In the "2.0 System Circuit" section of the bookmarks, find the one named "AC" (starts on page 11 of the document) - that is the circuit diagram for the AC.
In the "3.0 Location & Routing" section, you'll find the actual locations of the connectors, ECUs, and wiring harnesses based on your truck configuration (i.e. cab type, and column vs. floor shifter).

    General process:
    1. Find the appropriate connectors and wire for the specific function you are checking in the wiring diagram.
    - NOTE that the pin numbers are facing the plug end of the connector (not the end the wires are coming into).
    2. Look up the location of those connectors in the Location and Routing section.
    3. Find the physical connectors and test continuity of the appropriate pins.

    Good luck!

    And welcome to the site!

I downloaded all the files that pertain to my 2017 Tundra on my Android phone. They came in as .bin file extension. I changed the file extension to .pdf and they work perfectly. Thank you for sharing all this info!

I’ll have to do some digging later. The connector numbers get changed sometimes if they change colors. And in 2018 and again in 2020 a lot of connectors were changed for the TSS

Just took a look and compared 2016/17 to the 2018+ EWDs.
ALL turn signal/hazard/flasher function is handled by the combination meter (gage cluster) on the 2018+ trucks. There is no flasher relay any more.

Like internal circuitry? There are some basic line diagrams in the various EWDs that it is associated with, but AFAIK it’sa single sealed unit.

HI guys, Am I missing something? I downloaded the relevant .pdf files but am looking for some sort of index to find the right EWD. Is there such an animal or can you only ctrl-F to find an entry?
I am trying to find 2016 front passenger door lock wire pair color code for a tailgate remote release DIY install. YouTube vids for the the later years show a white w/silver and a red being used but my 2016 has no red wire. I think it might be one of the blue wires. I tried testing with a 12v light bulb on those pairs to se if a pulse would light it up. Also a voltmeter but no cigar. I am wondering if this is a fast square wave pulse with an opposite polarity for the other action that is too fast for the 12v incandescent tailight bulb i am using for the test. Anyway I sure could use a hand finding the schematic with wire colours for the lower blue connector in the front passenger door pillar.

Update: Found the relevant drawings using Ctrl-F but still wonder if there is an index to find the correct EWD. Thanks for making this resource available.

Sorry for not replying sooner. Was completely off grid for a week...
Depending on the specific year and EWD, some of them have an extensive bookmark list built into them, while others do not - but you also need a PDF viewer that supports bookmarks to see those. The only true "index" would be to subscribe to the TIS site and use their search system.

I have a 2018 TRD Sport. We hit a deer and need to replace a front right parking assist sensor. I can’t seem to find the wire diagram to match our wires back into a new 6 pin pigtail. Any help for me?

This thread is fantastic!!! I downloaded the wiring diagram for what I think was my Tundra 2013 Crewmax. I an trying to identify the connector I have attached to this post. I cannot seem to find it on the wiring schematics. I can't understand why but I will say that the connector is white with 11 pins but only 6 wires connected to it. I am trying to hook up my reverse trigger for backup camera and also the parking brake. Those feeds are supposed to be there right behind the head unit but I thought thee was supposed to be a 6 pin K6 connector, not this white one. Can someone assist?

Mark - what trim and/or radio do you have (JBL or not, Navigation or not)? Either way, are you sure it's an 11-pin connector? There aren't any 11-pin connectors in the audio wiring diagram for any of the 2013 options.

For a "built in amp" non-navigation, you should have connectors K1 (white 10 pins), K2 (white 6 pins), K3 (white 20 pins), K22 (black 12 pins), and K25 (white 8 pins).
For a "built in amp" navigation truck, you should have connectors J122 (gray 4 pins), K6 (gray 5 pins), K23 (white 20 pins), K30 (white 10 pins), K31 (white 6 pins), and K32 (white 8 pins).

For the JBL non-navigation, you should see K3 (white 20 pins), K4, K22 (black 12 pins), and K25 (white 8 pins).
For the JBL with navigation, you should see K6 (gray 5 pins), K7 (white 24 pins), K8 (black 12 pins), K18 (white 20 pins), K21 (white 20 pins), K24 (white 8 pins), and K26 (blue 6 pins).

None of these indicate how many wires will be in the connector, just how many positions are available.

You are correct that IF your truck has those two wires behind the head unit, they should be in the K6 connector. The parking signal would be pin 1 and a red wire, and the reverse signal would be pin 5 and a green wire.

What it looks like to me is you are holding the K3 connector, except that it doesn't have the wires that go to the steering wheel controls.

Thank you soo much for your response. I do have a non-JBL system with no navigation. That K3 connector is correct because my steering wheel does NOT have the controls. The problem is that I do not see the K6 connector at all. I installed a BOSS HU and it came with the connectors to plug into the existing wiring. Everything works except I cannot seem to find the correct K6 connector to plug in the purple/white reverse 12v and the parking brake wire. That K6 was supposed to be the one but I cannot seem to find it.

It is quite possible that K6 isn’t there given the fact you also don’t have steering wheel controls (and thus don’t have all the wires at the K3 connector either). I don’t know enough about what nuances of the cabin wire harness they may have had for your MY.

Did you install a back up camera (or duress truck already have one)? That would be the only reason for the reverse wire, and you could grab that with a t-tap down at the shifter.

parking brake signal is for the video lockout usually. That could also be t-tapped from near the sensor/switch for that.

Yes I installed the camera. Interesting that there is a connector there with the pink, green, light blue, gray and white wires. Wonder why that is there at all. So I guess I’ll obtain this t-tap and try this method. The camera that I installed had the two wires; purple/white and green that are supposed to be connected. The directions say to connect them to this passenger side kick panel for the parking brake and the 12v reverse lead to a circuit panel on drivers side. It’s probably the same that you mentioned only they didn’t say anything about a t-tap. I’ll keep researching and thank you again for these drawings and your advice.

Is this connector you are referring to behind the radio, or out at the bumper? I'm not seeing anything behind the radio that would have those colors in a single connector.

Looking at the 2013 EWD again, for a truck that does not have the JBL head unit and does not have navigation, the K6 connector won't exist. Sometimes the wiring harness in the cab will have more wiring than the trim level it was built at, but that's usually only on the higher trims.

I think this is backwards. The Parking Brake switch runs to/through the Main Body ECU / Fuse Box that is in the cabin on the driver's side.

Here is the parking brake switch information from the radio wiring diagram, but you don't have the K6 connector so you won't have the red wire from connector DE but you will have the beige wire going into connector DB

Digging through the EWD more, there is another wire for the parking brake switch that leaves the main ECU on connector DB (light green in pin 14) that goes to the skid control ECU. So you'll either need to grab the beige wire directly off the parking brake switch (up behind the parking brake itself), or grab the same beige wire at the DB connector in pin 11 or the light green wire at the DB connector in pin 14 for your parking brake signal.

For the REVERSE power, the wire you need is the one that is routed out to turn on the brake lights. It is pin 3 at junction connector AJ2 in the passenger kick panel, and will be a blue wire coming into the back of the junction and also coming out of the front.

For T-Taps, there are a few options.
The Posi-taps are my favorite (aside from actually stripping and soldering), but they are a little bulky sometimes.

I've also used these, which are very compact.

The red Scotchloks are probably the most common/recognized:

Sorry I forgot to answer your question on the location of the connector. It is directly behind the radio. Btw, if I found I could use one of these wires, do I cut the one I need out of the connector? I looked at the connector closely and there is this slim white plastic bar that covers the pins. I think it is supposed to pop out so I have access to the connector wires.

Any connectors behind the radio that are not showing specifically in the EWD for the radio are possibly junction connectors (there is a cluster of them located back behind the radio along the main wiring harness. I would avoid touching those, because cutting or re-pinning the wrong wire in one of those junctions could have drastically bad consequences (like shorting something to ground, disrupting CANBUS signals, etc.)

As for how to de-terminate the pins in the connectors, download and read through the information in both the 2016-2021 "Introductory Information" and the 2007 Wire Harness Repair Manual, both of which are in the first post. The information in these documents is not specific to those model years - it covers all sorts of information from how to properly determinate connectors to how to find the connector numbers to how to read the pin numbers.
