An HT like the "Feng" is not as big as iPhone really but somewhat more bulky and heavy too.
This is a pretty subjective thing and some people like the radio in their face and others do not.

So many phone holding solutions will also work fine for a handheld.

I recently played with one of those Weathertech cupholder based holders and it is a lot nicer than you can imagine if you have not held one in your hand yet and that would be one way.
I use the Scosche now for all phones and they work OK for a Handheld radio as well.

I was about to take a pic of the HT and phone together but them realized my only easy camera is my phone?

I would also only suggest not using an HT in a car too unless you are going to stick an external antenna on it outside the car, otherwise can be pretty frustrating for sure.

I mounted my VHF radio inside the center console against the back. The handset cable fits in the notch so I can still close lid when handset is out when at work, when not at work handset goes back into center console and no one would know it’s there.

I would think if a one peice radio that giant honkin' console seems an obvious place whether inside or outside on the passenger side.
It is not like there is a space shortage inside these trucks really.

I haven't had time to install anything in mine just yet but it will for sure be a detached head radio when I do so I will only need to find a spot for the tiny control head, there are plenty of choices for the body to go.
