    lol!

If I used checks, I'd follow suit. We don't live under HOA dictatorship though.

Whatever this forum told me to do
The UAW knows exactly what it’s doing.

They know these missteps will be countered by gov $

This strike, at this time, is strategic

I’m gonna sit over here and watch this crap unfold

A lot of folks are gonna get hurt. And a select few will get bailed out. Not you and me.

    Hunker down

Keep your gunpowder dry. When all this crashes, make a killing

And my little section of this subdivision forgot to create an HOA. 20 homes in the middle of massive HOAs. Life is good. I’m in tier 2 wind zone , so my wind insurance is robbery.

Nothing wrong with sharing profits. As long as they're also good with slashed wages when the pendulum swings the other way. I'm guessing unions will never agree to incentives based on financial results.

Unions want $$ per hour increases..
Not sure how the UAW works with their dues, but my Teamsters Union dues are 2.5 hours of pay per month.
    Currently $26 a week.

    Screenshot_2023-09-24_170751_8b56648a6a5b7f85f708923808ae5d8949acc049.png

The more we make, the more they make..

25 years ago we used to get $1000 bonus at Christmas from the company.
Union put a stop to it on the following contract because they didn't get a piece of it.
They said ANY pay and/or increases should be included in our hourly wage..

No doubt. Everyone wants all upside and no downside risk. Just like the financial markets. You can invest in a CD at a risk free rate or take a risk and put your money in equities for hopefully a better return, but the possibility you'll lose $.

The whole argument is about the profits the car makers are earning. Sometimes they also lose billions. Are the unions willing to also take the downside risk?

    hurricane shit

    seaward- right on the coast
    Tier 1 - 10 miles in
    Tier 2 - 30 miles in

Most of houston is out of the tiers, I’m just south of houston, at the tip of tier 2

Building codes are way more robust in the tiered zones. Hurricane straps on roof structure, etc.

It seems like something is broken. How can you strike and get paid for it. My small mind can't fit this fact.

It's like fasting and eating cherry pies all day.

Yeah, the property taxes are the biggest barrier to TX for me. Even "owning" your home you've got a mortgage payment. How TF would an average single income home possibly be affordable?

Agreed. $3k of my taxes goes to my local ISD.

They tried to pass 3 bonds a couple years ago. Voters said no to 2 of them.

    If your SD works the same as ours, they'll just bundle whatever they want with actual needs on the next ballot to force taxpayers into giving them what they want. I mean, voters could turn it down again, but voters know they need certain things. And, well, to get those things you have to approve the unnecessary stuff that costs many multiples of the necessities. They love to play this card;

They ripped that approach off of politicians.

The costs of a taxpayer funded education are rising sharply as enrollment skyrockets.

after the couple months of funding? then comes the bailout.

    with our dollars.

I continue to not understand all this.

the Big 3 make generally shitty products & the workers want to get rewarded.

Corrupt politicians, HOAs, taxes upon taxes, etc. This is why I'm moving out of the country. I'll fire sale the house and the contents within, take whatever I have saved up and make it worth at least double in a foreign country and live a better retirement than I could ever afford here. Don't get me wrong, I love America. It is and always will be the land of opportunity. It's just to the point, for me at least, that the decision to leave is best.

As far as the big 3 automakers and the workers on strike, I hope the American consumer realizes what it has done to itself. Keep buying vehicles on a 9 year loan. The consumer has bent over, grabbed their ankles, and said screw me and I'll like it.
