I’ve seen some trucks on here with u bolts flipped. Don’t remember who it was. I thought it was to lower the truck or something.

U-boat flip kitsch have been around in the old Hilux and Taco builds for rock crawling for over 20 years. They give additional clearance on the trails and less things to get damaged. Although, the price for the kit above is steep based off those old kits. I will probably have some fabbed one day, super easy to design and build

(2014 tundra) After clipping a rock with the stock U bolt configuration, which caused my axle to shift. I installed one of these kits along with a set of deaver leaf springs (11 leaf pack, SOA) and Total Chaos shackles. I already had the Total Chaos bump stop kit and the archive offroad flip kit top Plate Provides room for my bump stop to land. Archive offroad has great customer service and a quality product, even provided the torque spec for install.

Awesome, the exact response I was waiting for! I have King 2.5s on the way along with Deaver U748s. Contemplating on getting the Total Chaos bump stop kit along with the King bump stops. Nice setup, and thanks for your input.

Just about to install some SumoSprings in the back and it got me thinking. Since I have to take the U bolts off anyways why not flip them at the same time? Has anyone here done a U bolt flip using Sumo springs? Not sure how the SumoSprings baseplate would work….

You would just need to fab up your own plates, I have the yellow Sumo springs on my truck. Great addition!

    Resurrecting this thread!

I've got a 2020 TRD pro, and I'm looking to run airbags and cradles in the rear with a u-bolt flip. Does anyone know a u bolt flip kit that will work with cradles?

Not arguing with you, but durobumps response is a absolute lie. Running a u bolt flip kit is not going to crush the axle tube. If that was the case the the weakest point on the tube would be where the spring perch is welded onto the axle.

Strange response for sure. Have had a no name flip kit on my '07 since about 2012 and have not had any sort of issues resembling that response. There must be several thousand second gen + owners who have installed u bolt flip kits.

What you have isn't a u bolt flip kit. It's a spring under lowering kit. Your u bolts are still facing downward like factory the flip kit the u bolt faces up and the nut is on the top not the bottom.

I hear you and understand your statement. Regardless, that statement is still strange as it states "the axle tube can easily be crushed and the u bolts come loose"

Not a u bolt flip kit. Plus your rear is spring under vs spring over. I didn’t realize 2nd gen was spring under and 2.5 was spring over. Interesting.

2nd gens weren't spring under. He installed a spring under to lower the truck.

In 2020 the the 2014+ were called 3rd gens until the 2022 was released. When they refreshed the 2nd gen in 2014 everyone started calling that the 3rd gen.

They weren't talking about your model truck in 2020, it didn't exist.
