    Excellent.

Keep screwing up Toyota. That way next year as inventory increases and we enter a recession I can enjoy the combo of dealers that need to sell trucks, and a truck with a reputation for being a shit box even after it will most likely be sorted out. Too bad the reputation will hurt resale but I keep vehicles long term anyway.

My 2001 4runner came factory with denso plugs in one head and ngk in the other. When I looked into it I'd ready where the heads were built in separate factories. Could have been the truth or something someone made up, but with to my knowledge all failures being one side, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if each side of the turbo assy is built in a different location.

I'm also curious if it's simply the waste gate that has issues, what's stopping them from installing a driver side gate on the passenger side?

I’ve been a Toyota fanboy for a long time. I don’t own a ‘22 but how is it that trucks are still coming off the assembly line this month with bad turbos and being shipped to dealers to be sold? Seems Toyota doesn’t have a handle on this yet. I’m sure they will in time but how much will their reputation suffer? Without the legendary Toyota reliability there’s really no reason to buy a new Tundra. It’s not like it’s a game changing, world beating truck. It’s a middle of the road half ton truck.

    wow, that hurts.

I think @Coal Dragger has this spot on, in the court of public opinion light is blinking red.

get your shit together ASAP here toyota.

I just drove a f-150 powerboost today on a test drive, damn that thing has some torque, holy shit.

Im going to test drive a tundra next week maybe, but not really feeling comfortable to get one yet with all these problems out there

Yep, over and over again. And as a member of some of those FB Tundra groups, I can't even find some of them there!

In one of these threads on here someone posted all the FB screenshots and I recognize the same names over and over. Not saying the issue doesn’t exist just that it seems to be the same cases

if you have time would appreciate if you could elaborate on why that is. Would it wear out the actuator sooner?

The harder an actuator has to work to move a part the sooner something will fail. This is as close to an absolute as quantum mechanics will allow.

Similar issues like this when the 3rd gen Tacoma came out. People turning onto a street would lose all power and about get t-boned. I think a software update finally did the trick.

The funny thing is....this doesn't appear to be limited to the Tundras. My wife owns a 2020 Highlander and several times, as we've gone to pass someone (as in, stomping on the gas), halfway through the passing, all power to the engine cuts out for like a second or two. When you're passing someone and *need* to go fast to pass them...it scares the hell out of you.

BUT! There's a silver lining. Wife went to test drive a 2022 4Runner this last weekend, and absolutely fell in love with it. She asked me "Why am I only just now finding out about this?" (Gee, I dunno sweetie, I've only told you about them for a DECADE.) Anyways...she has a 2022 4Runner TRD Sport in Lunar Rock on order; should get here at the end of March. :)

I don't either, but I can tell you it's happening to the Highlanders as well.
