Good, maybe Toyota is realizing they better fix trucks ASAP so they don’t have lemon law buy backs to contend with.

Doubt they would have brought back the V8 unless there was a financial reason to do so, like lower than expected sales. Hope Toyota learns the same lesson. I know I sure don't want a V6 engine in my truck!

It's a PR vehicle to compete with the TRX and such, not anything that sells in any volume. Maybe those 10 customers they lost with the V6 Raptors will come back and buy them. ;-)

Someone posted on the FB group that they stopped by their dealer for parts and service manager said “1 in 15.”

    Tundra rumors are something else.

    For now anyway....
The dealers would just as soon go back to the way it was too. They don’t have squat for new inventory, and have to rely on pre owned for more inventory. “....if we make $500-1000 on a preowned vs nothing, we are still better off”-sales rep.

They could really be killing it if they had some new inventory. For me, the price of new one vs pre owned was a no brainer.
    In this frenzy anyway....
Norton paid me $2k more TRADE than I paid for my ‘21 Taco back in Jun/Jul.
    2 way street....

I know it ain’t 1 in 15 but at the same time it isn’t 0.01%. Combined December/ January Tundra sales were 8k. More than 8 have been reported but it’s still small.

I read something about continuing the 5.7 was not an option because it could never meet upcoming emissions standards. Everyone has their own reasons, but when I switched to the Tundra I knew what I was giving up for reliability. If the reliability is gone, might as well play the lottery with a more capable truck from one of the "big 3" manufacturers and their disposable 1/2 ton trucks... Toyota will figure it out. They have no choice with all of the models that share the same powertrain (Lexus LX, Landcruiser, Tundra, and now Sequoia). Maybe the answer is to source all turbos from Japan? As far as I know the LX and Landcruiser do not have the same issues.

I would agree it sucks being one of the people with the Turbo Problem. Did quick math assumption 100 Turbo issues against the 8K productions still at .0125. Big assumption thats only 100 failures and with some still out there waiting to fail. The one intangible is the internet and reporting the issue. IMO tends to snowball from the original poster.
Just rolled over 700miles and no issues.

I’m not worried. Tundra or sequoia I’m sure either will be good. I’m just curious which of my deposits comes up first

I think it’s laughable that Toyota would truly take a serious look into anything its customers ‘really’ wanted. If they did, wouldn’t they have visited the forums that their dedicated and loyal fan base resides at and ask them? Right, I can’t recall any official toyota representatives doing something as simple as making polls about what we’d like to see in future models. Instead they look at the market and what sells, making decisions based on comparisons of what the majority will buy while cutting costs where they can. Not to mention also meeting any government regulations that currently exist as well as what is likely to come down the pipeline during that product’s lifetime. We’re in an echo chamber and tundras.com consists of a small minority of the actual Tundra consumer base. Which is why a poll of owners experiencing issues would not give the full picture of how many out there are actually experiencing problems.

What we want hardly matters in the big picture of THEIR business model. And that’s not even touching planned obsolescence, LOL!

    *hops off soap box* :hattip:

what did Henry Ford say? I think it was if he'd asked customers what they wanted they'd have asked for a faster horse....

There's a reason why Toyota doesn't bother with asking for suggestions from the forums....

I get my truck serviced at Norton but bought it from Fowler. Norton would barely budge off MSRP and Fowler gave me almost 20% off. I'm keeping my truck till sanity returns.

Well he actually didn’t say that, actually more the opposite-https://medium.com/@adrianh/faster-horses-50ff8bb1bb62 Why do you think many companies adopt the motto “the customer is always right”..of course there’s exceptions, like anything.

I haven’t been a forum member too long but I do know the release of the turd gen has created more division than ever here, along with a loss of faith among other longtime hardcore toyota fans, myself included. Coincidence? o_O

This reads like boomer entitlement and inability to give something new a chance. I'm shocked there hasn't been more pro carburetor talk cause who can trust those new fandangled fuel injectors, amiright?

Boomer entitlement LOL I actually fall into the millennial category! Though I have been told I’m an old soul, so I’ll take your response as a compliment. Btw I love trying new things, but what toyota created isn’t really new or revolutionary by any means, it’s just playing catch-up.

They released a truck that is having turbo issues requiring engine removal or off frame recalls. That is what is shaking confidence. Not "new" tech, which a turbo is not. Love me some turbos, but the tech has been around long enough that this kind of a bumble is a disappointment. I was excited to see Toyota's take on a turbo truck because Ford has been doing them for years, and has had great success.

You might have missed it but this isn’t a result of badly designed turbos. It’s a result of a bad batch of turbos from the supplier. And you don’t have to remove the cab or engine to replace them.

Yeah I agree, just bad luck that it's a part issue in the most divisive part of the redesign. Could have been any other part in the truck..

What's up with the anti "boomer" sentiment on the interwebs lately?

Are "boomers" even a relevant demographic, or just an easy cheap shot because they likely aren't around to defend themselves?

Talking crap about our predecessors, classy.
