    Hmmm......
To get to the turbos on the Tundra is cab-off.

The Sequoia doesn't have a cab, so........ more work than the Tundra?

Just picked up my 2022 Tundra 4x4 build date 12/21 hope I'm good there. I purchased with lots of options (like a limited without the sunroof) last Sat.1/15. I did purchase the Toyota Extended 7 year Warranty just in case (as new model year). Only 250 miles but so far so good. !4" screen is crazy good! If the reliability is Toyota like it's a win/win.

Congrats and good luck with it!
Curious to ask, how much was the 7 yr. extended warranty?
    Any details on the coverage?

Will post some pics soon. I paid MSRP but I think they were aggressive on the warranty $3200 7 year 75,000. Dealer said $ went up Jan. 1, well ok, maybe.

Cancel that buddy. It’s insane mark up. 10 year 100k is $1540 on 2022 tundra.

Yes, my local dealer just like to sell the platinum warranty. Thought it was a good decision given a new model year.

You can buy the Toyota platinum warranty from any Toyota dealer as long as vehicle has less than 36 months and 36k miles. Check the warranty thread it helped me.
U can also cancel what u purchased within 30 days.

    Many on the way.
Meh, all I see is lemonade if that cab comes off. A super easy and ultra thorough rustproofing opportunity to be had, for sure.

Dang……pretty disturbing. Curious to hear other takes. Guy on his 10th Toyota. If I stroked a $60k check on a 22 it would it be my 4th Toyota.

If all he says is true can’t say I would feel better if in his shoes. If anything maybe worse, might already have called an attorney. Hope there is more to story, but dang…

They make some good points about techs that have never worked on a 2022, taking a brand new truck apart, and the likelihood of them getting every nut and bolt back to factory specs.

Well, hopefully the techs can read because I doubt there is a factory tech alive who can remember the torque specs and exact procedure for the multitude of warranty repairs they may be asked to do. I don’t need a couple of fucking morons on YouTube speculating on whether they’re trained to do so. That’s what service manuals are for.

The turbo issue sucks and should be a real concern. If YouTube makes your decision, you’re well behind the 8 ball.

Call me crazy, but manual or not, i dont want the cab pulled off and everything that has to be unhooked that goes along with it, or my very complicated looking engine pulled out of a brand new 60-70k truck, that is so new, these techs probably havent even changed the oil on one of these yet. If that doesnt bother you in the least bit, then more power to you.

Yikes! Dang man, funny you should mention that....
I begrudgingly looked at the Nissan Titan last night. Comes with 5/100k basic and powertrain.
I know nobody likes it, but I'm starting to wobble on the Tundra....

They also have to recover the refrigerant and brake fluid, disconnect those lines. And put that back together too.
On 99.9% of vehicles on the road, these systems stay untouched for a very long time. I don't know what disassembly and reassembly will do to the long term on those systems

Yup, once you breach the air conditioning system it may never be as reliable long term. I am spoiled on my 2009 Tacoma, still working and never touched except to check refrigerant pressures once about 7 years ago. I refrain from even doing that routinely in the absence of a problem.

My Titan was 14 years old when someone crashed head-on into it. My AC system had never been touched. It needed a new condenser, fans and radiator. It's never been the same since the accident, fortunately the insurance warranties all that as long as I own it, but I've had to take it back twice now. Ol' girl will never be the same.

Also, when the Tundra is older, and if you need cab-off, go to an independent shop, you gotta make sure they can do all of that ancillary work.

And often times, taking apart older systems leads to more repairs, can of worms

This is probably the biggest reason I'm holding off.

Back in 2013, I had to bring my truck in to have the valve body separator plate TSB performed. The regular tech brought it out to me, and while standing by it WHILE IT WAS MAKING THE NOISE, told me "I can't hear anything, normal operating characteristic of the truck."

Came back the next day with a video, audio, 34 pages from a forum, the printout of the TSB, and then told them "If after all of this, y'all still can't do it, at least give me the parts list so I can do it myself." They then told me what we all know - there's one or two 'senior' techs or what have you, and if I could wait until one of them is available, they'd get it taken care of.

Fast forward to this year. Trucks are far more technical then they were even 5 years ago, and there are just as many basic techs. The LAST thing I want is any of them touching any truck of mine to perform a cab-off repair until either a) the problem is resolved for sure, or b) this procedure is old hat.

What’s frustrating on here is the same people that bash the big three for the same exact thing make excuses for Toyota. When you update something to a full redesign which the big three do more often than Toyota you’re going to have issues. Everybody said this was gonna happen but the diehard said no way not Toyota.

I'm no wrench, or gear-head, but I can tell you from personal experience having owned two Porsches that pulling the cab off for engine work is common practice. And it has been for years.
The vehicles are designed and engineered that way. The photos may seem frightening but I'm not nervous about it one bit. My $0.02
