@TurboKits.com Any plans, or do you already have kits for the 3rd gen Tacoma? Seems that would be a good candidate with that 3.5l engine.

HP Tuners has for the 2005-2015, we have a 2015 that we will be starting shortly. Have not looked into the 2016+ yet tho.

the 2016+, if i remember correctly, the exhaust manifold is built into the sides of the engine. There's really just a single exhaust manifold port on each side. Which makes me think super easy to rig up the piping.

Head-i-fold motor... Cool. It's the way all motors seem to be moving.

    More progress, almost there...

We have our Stage 1 kit back up and running on our new shop Tundra. We pre-installed the intercooler so we can jump to the stage 2 quickly once we have the stage 1 wrapped up. We are working on dialing in the Stage 1 tune now, then back to the DYNO, then Stage 2 install and rinse and repeat!

Timeline since we lost access to the black Tundra and had to put it back to stock and give back to the customer.
    - Located and purchased another Tundra
    - 100% stock DYNO baseline
    - Final QC on our first stage 1 production run, test fit randomly 6 kits to assure fitment for all customers will be the same
    - Final install of the Stage 1 on the shop truck

    Upcoming milestones
    - Stage 1 tune dialed in and back on the DYNO for results
    - 5 DIY testers of the Stage 1
    - Upgrading to Stage 2 on the shop truck
    - Stage 2 tune dialed in and back on the DYNO for results
*we would hope while we are working on the Stage 2 results, we will be receiving feedback from the DIY testers to post as well.

Thanks again for all of the support!

Can you grab a pic of the truck sitting with the crossover pipe installed, from ground level so folks can see how low the pipe is compared to other underside components?

Absolutely, it's tucked up nice and does not sit any lower than anything else. If not an inch or so above the rear diff and the front lower control arms.

Nice! I like seeing the progress. Keep us updated still. Cool to see something a little different than just all of us supercharged guys. Curious to see the stage 2 results

Thanks, yeah we were just about the get the Stage 2 on the DYNO on the customer truck when a family issue and a longer than expected lead time on our end, cut it short. So we'll be happy to get back to where we left off, for sure :)

Yes, actually tons of progress on our end for production release stuff, but nothing major of note that would get you guys excited. It's race season, so most of the people we lean on are busy at the track. Our fabricator is busy keeping cars/trucks on the track. The company we use for our DYNO is actually the world record holder in the EVO 4G63 world, so they are prepping for racing most weeks. It tends to be a tad slow going in CT mid/late summer. Progress tho, has been made.

    - We received our stage 2 sample intercooler piping from our mandrel benders. Those dropped right in our test truck. No revisions are needed and we are moving into production, so the Stage 2 will be available shortly after the Stage 1

    - We received the production sample on an additional custom coupler to make the Stage 2 even easier to install. Same as above, that fit right in, no revisions needed, and is going into production as well.

    - We are reworking the Stage 1 coupler to get a little more MAF flow out of it, hoping we can allow for a solid 4-5 PSI on stage one, bumping the Stage 1 power up 20-30HP.

Otherwise, we have 5 Stage 1 kits pretty much ready to go. We have not pushed for testers, as we want to get back on the DYNO and release the #s along with the post for Stage 1 testers to get on board.

So yes, lots going on in the back ground :)

So, with the possible update on the above stage 1 & 2 kits, any projected HP?
I know it would pend on the actual Dyno run, but any ballpark range?

If we rate it at Crank HP, which is where most advertised products are rated, we expect the Stage 1 to solidly be at 475-500HP (400WHP+) and the Stage 2 to be at 575-600HP (500WHP+ is our goal with the stage 2). That is what we see the MAX you'd want to run on the stock drivetrain without a huge risk of failures. Obviously, the 76mm turbo can do 1000HP, so anyone that wants to build and upgrade can push the turbo as high as their budget and ball will allow :) LOL

Thank you. Stage 2 max out at 600HP would be awesome. I do not need my truck to go up in flames, I need it to work day in day out, minus some fast. OK, plenty fast.
I have a feeling that my FBI and cop neighbors will have their radar on me the minute I have it installed and dialed in....

Yes, our goal from the beginning was 500WHP with the stage 2, add back the 15-20% DYNO loss and that puts it right around 600HP from the motor. Our philosophy has always been to design a kit that gives the real-world user solid gains, is as easy as possible to install and keeps reliability in mind.

I do remember earlier on was a question that if said user has cat plates/skid plate (can't remember which) they would need to modify the plate to allow the install.
Is that still going to be the case?

Ken's black Tundra had the large CAT plate. The only thing we would have had to do was notch a small piece out for the downpipe to clear, otherwise it kept it in place. Front skid plates are not near the kit, so anything from the transmission forward will fit just like it always has / should.

Man that HP is ideal for me but the low hanging fruit is not ideal. Notch the skid then you expose the pipe and make it vulnerable and I am sure that is not a cheap item to replace.

Awesome job on the kit and all the dedication you have put into it, not a lot of the peps that start a big project finish it :hattip:

You do realize he said not the cat plate and not the skid and that anything in front of the transmission fits like normal?

This is also why I bought a $3000 k5 to wheel and not my $38k tundra. Way cheaper to fix and maintain and if I break it, it can sit.

We posted a while back all of the measurements. It's not really low hanging fruit. It's just lower than the rest of the kit, but if I recall, was still about an inch+ higher up than the cross member, rear pumpkin, etc.. Meaning you'll be hitting other, STOCK parts of the truck before you hit the downpipe.

Here is a pic of the truck on the flat:

Do you remember how much you had to cut out of the original donor truck?
I guess my fear is if I cut it too close, if the kit vibrates, then it will drive me nuts with the noise, or if I cut it too wide, I still don't think it is big enough for people to cut the cats out, but the fear is there...

We never completed Ken's truck, since he needed it back due to a family issue and us taking longer than expected. So we never cut his plate up for fitment. But looking at it, we only had to notch the one side where the downpipe sat and it would fit right back in. Obviously making clearance so it can move without interference would be the responsibility of the installer.

Ah, understood. Do you vaguely remember the measurement of the opening required?
My Taco fiend was suggesting SC+Turbo.... my response was, no enough space in the engine bay....lol

Ha ha, that would be sick! Unfortunately, I don't have any measurements. Literally we were about to do the final install of the plate (luckily, I told my guys to hold off, that I wanted to have access to things on the DYNO, etc) and Ken asked for the truck back, so we did not get past the point of eyeballing it. It was so inconsequential when we were looking at it, we didn't think much about it honestly. We don't feel it will be something that stops anyone from installing the kit. If it does, not really much we can do, the way we routed the piping is the ONLY way it would all fit.
