No real issue other than what's been suggested. I don't know how anyone else fished the cables through but, I sprayed some WD40 to lubricate the grommet.

I'll keep everyone updated as I test it out some more. Thanks again!!!

I cut some slits on the inside after cutting the nipple. I sprayed glass cleaner on the grommet to help with pushing the head through. Glass cleaner libricates but dries quick after you are done. Good trick to know.

About to jump on this install... did you guys have to cut the RCA cable to route through the firewall? Any other options?

No. As long as your hole is big enough. And I used glass cleaner to help lubricate it as it was a tight pull

Right... but were you able to fit the end of the RCA thru the grommet in the firewall, or did you have to cut it off and reattach once thru the grommet?

10-4. So, did you go thru the nipple in the grommet or slice an X in the grommet to pull it thru?

I went through the nipple and sliced an x on the inside of the cab because the nipple doesn't go all the way through.

It will make sense once u do it.

No way I could reach to push the RCA plug thru the nipple. I cut it off and will have to solder it back on.

It was tight but with enough librication and force it does fit

Got it wrapped up a bit ago. Took a couple of hours but I'm slow and like to take my time. I soldered and shrink wrapped all connections and everything went together fine and works great.

Thanks Tex for a great product!

Good job. Always better to take more time and do it right the first time. Which camera did you go with? Looks good tho.

What RCA is under the hood? Does the other end of the camera wire have one permanently attached?
Looking at the camera links at the bottom of this page, it looks like another wire connects to the camera wire. If that's the case wouldn't it be easier to shove the other end of the wire thru the firewall?
I don't have this (maybe when v3 comes out) so I'm not fully understanding.

I went with the same one Tex used that fits nicely in the "T" on the grill. $29. I hated to cut the cable and re-solder especially given the almost 28-30g wire. But, it all went back together again no problem.

Now to figure out what to do with the big wire bundle under the hood.... need some 5-7mm wire loom.

I'm a little late to the party...I cut the nipple and didn't cut an X inside the grommet which was a mistake (it would have been easier) . I taped the RCA cable to a wire hanger and I sprayed WD40 into nipple cutout. I slowly worked the RCA cable in and pulled the wire hanger from the inside.

Since I had to cut my video/power line like you did, I cut a few feet of the extra slack out of the cable when I soldered it back together. I left about a 18-inch service loop just in case. That is easily stowed with a few tie-wraps against existing harnesses in the engine bay.

My camera had a detachable connection prior to the rca cable. The connection fit through the cut tip nipple without lube, felt pretty good going through.

Same cam as TundraTex so I'm not sure why you guys had to cut and solder the rca wire... Mine was long enough to be in the cabin.

That's what I was wondering, why the RCA jack would have to get shoved thru......I guess it varies camera to camera. I like the one that fits in the Toyota logo like Tex and Mikey used. Hopefully when v3 comes around I'll have some disposable income.

Yes, but to do that you'd have to push it thru from the inside, which would be pretty tough considering how high up on the firewall the rubber boot sits.

It was no problem to cut/solder the connection. It pushed thru the cut nipple with no drama.

I detached the wires, ran a hanger through the boot from inside and pulled the wire in. The rca never left the cabin. Maybe yours is shorter?
