I'm just thankful the primary highways here mostly widen out to 3 lanes for big uphills. I can drop from 65 to 45 or 50 in the right lane with the semis and not upset anyone.

It's head up the ass level 10 around here. One of the reasons I quit riding my bike on the road. Hell, I once almost got hit head on by another bicyclist on our trail system because he was texting while riding.

Gotta get out on the bike, man. I’ve always treated every vehicle on the road like it is trying to kill me. I’m just right more often now!

If I was King there would be a law that all women drivers of a particular age would be required to have a roof mounted red beacon set to flash on those particular days of the month.

Nope, weight was referring to GVWR/payload, not sure what else would apply.

I just looked back and realized you were talking about your truck. Sorry, I thought we were still talking about the Bound for Nowhere truck that weighs 9000 lbs.

After a fair amount of towing with the Tundra right at the maximum (-ish) weights, I decided to upgrade my springs.

    B16D0D59-C899-4BA2-9943-8A9078549EA4.jpg

Full disclosure, they're attached to a '21 GMC 3500 SRW gasser. I no longer experience the issues I had with the Tundra towing-hauling wise.

I do miss my Tundra though, just couldn't justify 2 trucks.

... You had me at first. I was like "I wanna see how he did this retrofit... Custom fab work? Aftermarket company??

I laughed so hard I almost cried when I realized those springs were on a different truck. I actually looking at the pic though, damn look at all those studs, he must've found an upgraded axle too! Yep... On a one ton!

Huge upgrade in the towing world obviously. But for me, it's just as big a downgrade in every almost other way. I would have to add a third vehicle to the fleet for myself to daily, and we would have to go into the backcountry in a different vehicle.

I'm still thinking about it though. All depends on how my test run with the trailer I'm looking at goes.

You know what is amazing about stories like this? Apparently she was in a big ass damn hurry until you got in the way. Then she had all the time in the world to screw with you. I hope you asked her about that when you were stopped next to her at the light.

I couldn’t go any faster. Too much traffic. We were all lucky to do 55 mph. I can go 89 mph with those tires.

I shoot back…and you might be shocked how many mags I bring on my trips.

Didn't mean to imply you were in the wrong or anything like that. Just sharing why I tend to stay out of the left lane, even when I'm not towing unless it's clear for a long way behind me. My wife on the other hand sets the (non-radar) cruise and will just pull out to avoid having to slow down, regardless of whether it's safe to do so or not.

I normally do as well. Unfortunately on the road that we were on, nobody let’s 50’ merge into the other lane.

Unfortunately decent amount of my trips are to CA, have to do the “freedom cleanse” beforehand. Off topic, before the pandemic spent a year working at a custom trailer builder, trailers that were sold as 1/2 ton towable were no fun. When they would leave to get certified everyone said in their head please don’t come back. Ripping them apart and moving tanks etc., no good when your monthly bonus depended on x amount of finished trailers.:annoyed:

Had a couple lane closures when I was towing my trailer to Banff a couple weeks ago and folks were pretty good about letting me in for the most part. I was laughing at the guy in the little Acura sitting next to my trailer with his signal light on, trying to figure out where he thought he was going, though.

Head to Maryland! Everyone drives in the left lane. Refuse to get over. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve passed someone in the right lane. I usually then get in front of them and slam on my breaks until they move to the proper lane. I could be the asshole in this situation but it drives me bananas they refuse to get over
