Tundras to Sedona - 2023

Discussion in 'General Tundra Discussion' started by AT x AT, Oct 26, 2022.

?

To Overland or Not to Overland

  1. I would like to join an Overland Detachment.

  2. I would like to enjoy trail leader, lead day trip(s) and return back to base camp to sleep.

  3. I would like to explore the trails by me, myself and I.

@FrenchToasty That sounds great. Will definitely check out dog town lake. Thanks for the suggestion.

BTW, @SAGE63 and @helidave what was the name of that town that’s up on the mountainside we went through going to the horseshoe trail? We ate dinner at the pizza joint afterwards. Wanted to take the fam to that town but don’t remember it’s name.

Yeah, old mining town that's now a tourist trap, but still pretty cool. If you are a wine or heavy metal fan, next time you go, swing by Maynard from Tool's wine store. Last time I was there I did and got a bottle for a x-mas gift for my son. He said it was really good.

    Yes, I did.
Hopefully it doesn’t sell out by the time I can get my crew to commit to a head count!

Casey, the only "limit" is on trailers, RV's. Other than that, there's room for all. The reason for updating headcount is to get T-shirts and gift bags sorted, in the event those are offered this year.

So, we do technically have an attendance limit, but it’s high enough we shouldn’t have a problem. We’re keeping it below 200 Tundras with a cap on trailers. Honestly I forget what limit we set on trailers but we can always be reached at registration@tundrastosedona.com if someone hits the limit and wants to bribe us. ;)

jerome is an awesome little town. Used to be a lot more like a ghost town with just bikers and hippies in the 80s and 90s. Real bikers, not dentists playing Harley rider on the weekend.
It’s still a great place to visit and hang out. If you guys are into haunted stuff, see if you can make time for a night in the Connor Hotel or the Asylum. Grab a ghost tour. Good times.

I was drinking in the Spirit Room below the Connor Hotel in the late 90s or early aughts and Maynard was sitting at the bar. Got up on the little stage and played some jazz guitar with the little band that was playing. As a Tool fan, it was pretty surreal. Place was maybe half full, 30 or 40 people.

I always buy a knife and Lisa a bag from the little outdoor gear shop except when he’s closed. We bought our wedding rings at Nelly Bly, the jewelry store under the Connor.

    Yeah, we love Jerome. Haha

Black out rage gallons. Combo of hard booze, those liquid caffeine flavor squirt things, powdered electrolytes and some water to dilute. And you just tote it around in your gallon water jug with your name sharpied on the side. Latest trend among Gen Zs I guess :notsure:
