You’re not going to the Sahara Desert. There are gas stations down the road. :D

About 10 minute drive from camp is Munds Park, there are two gas stations there with a good amount of supplies to include ice, there is also an RV park that has a small convenience store.

Plenty of options. I don’t have any high end coolers or powered refrigerators either. What I’ve done is prepped my ice chest days before by filling it with ice for 2 days and then going and get dry ice the day of. I put a piece of card board over it for my food. Or I’ve used frozen packs. Then I have another ice chest for my drinks. Works for about 2 days depending on how often you go in and out of it. That’s why I put my drinks in a different ice chest so it doesn’t affect the food and that stays cold

Sounds like you guys got systems that work for you. If you do decide to do a last minute upgrade, I’m a big fan of the Lifetime ice chests, sold at WalMart. They are super effective… on par with, or close to Yeti …still ice 5 days later… and not overly expensive.

Anyway, throwing it out there in case anyone is contemplating a last minute upgrade. Plus… it’s a great place to display stickers.

Yeah you’re right. Munds Park is closer to basecamp and is much colder at night.

Is there going to be a more precise schedule for the trails? Plans changed a little bit for me so I will be heading up mid-morning on Saturday, so I want to make sure I'm at camp well before the "afternoon" start of the trail run.

Probably not, because there’ll be a bit of herding cats… and more cats than in previous years. Lol! I mean, a more precise schedule might be created, or posted, but I wouldn’t bet actual money on precise accuracy if such a document.

Due to colder weather than anticipated, I don't want to camp with my 8 year old. I booked a room at Motel in the Pines instead.

I still plan on leading the trail runs. HOLLA!

Yes and no - it depends on your carrier. In 2019 AT&T coverage was kinda spotty. I think that Verizon had better reception.

AND you also have to consider the load those cell phone towers will have to handle with all of us in the area.

Ok, I shoulda thought of this distinction. I have Verizon and service is really good at camp— maybe gotta walk 20 feet, like that— but probably a couple hundred people at the same time could create some trouble.

That said… if your other half stays home and you promised to check in every day as a requirement to attend… let us know what answer you need us to give.

If necessary, we can Facetime/Zoom/Google Duo with the other half that "allowed" you to go camping and drive the beautiful trails!
