Never gonna happen. No interest in power mods. I don't want a race car and my dick will not get any bigger with more HP. I just want the fun of a 300+ HP RWD stick shift car. Anything beyond that is wasted and just adds things that can break, interfere with warranties, or make it harder to sell. Mods don't add value, but they do narrow the market to which your vehicle appeals. I'm fine with it in stock form.

 

Go to your kid's school with those pictures and these, and ask the kids which car looks coolest. Teslas only have cerebral appeal, and I'm way more on the caveman/kid spectrum.

 

Like I said, cerebral appeal, but it doesn't have the emotional impact. You want me on board with an EV? Get me one that looks like a '57 Belair, '65 GTO, '68-'72 Charger, a Porsche, KITT from Knight Rider, the DeLorean, the '08-'12 Mustangs. FFS, if emissions aren't strangling you to push for aerodynamics make it look GOOD. Oh... wait... you can't because if it's not super aerodynamic you don't get any kind of reasonable range out of an EV. They are the gingers of the car world. They. Have. No. Soul.

I'm on the Tesla side of the fence for this debate, although my heart still wants a throaty ICE.
When we replace the Sequoia, it would be silly not to go with an EV.

A few of my reasons:
Lower cost of ownership. Cheapest power in the country. Our long trips are mostly done in the truck so 300+ miles is more than enough. Plan on getting a solar battery bank to ease my obsessive prepper mind, to charge the car and a few house circuits.

And yep, good chance EV's are just as bad for the environment.

That's completely out of context. I said "...if it's not super aerodynamic you don't get any kind of reasonable range out of an EV." It was in relation to why Teslas all have a certain look to them. If you put the Tesla guts in any of the other car bodies I listed the range would drop because of the aerodynamics. I know they have varied ranges and that you can get some that have over 300 miles of range. They just cost twice what a Challenger would.

 

Doesn't matter what it is, if my budget for a new fun vehicle that I can drive 600-700 miles a day in is topping out at $45K (gunning for less), a Tesla doesn't make the list. That's even before taking into account looks, lack of soul, or any matters of personal preferences. Tesla doesn't make a care that fits my needs. They're great for people with different needs, but they just don't work for me at a basic practical level. Still wanna drive one and such, but wouldn't spend money on one.

 

Sadly not.

I've been thinking about this since you posted this because I also use everything in dark mode. I found this google chrome extension called 'midnight lizard' for desktop. No idea exactly who makes it or what it is doing so y'all can try at your own risk, but, the effect is pretty convincing and I like it!! (Don't think this helps you mobile users though)

 

I think my brother in law did an axle back on his WRX.

 

If your car isn't ugly enough that people can look at it and immediately notice that it's an EV then you don't get the satisfaction of having them know you're single-handedly saving the world.

 

Maybe I should do y'all a favour and see if I can detune my truck.

 

That part sucks because you've gotta adjust positioning to make it look right.
