I dont like to say I'm poor but as rich as I need to be..... bills are paid, roof over head,food in the house and most importantly momma is happy! I try to keep my glass half full.... or at least quarter full. I tell people at work all time, it could be worse.... we could be muti-millionairs wondering what we are going to do with our life!

 

I spent $2k on my first mattress (from Sears) when I first moved out but the $4k mattress was pretty damn comfy.

 

After all of these years of constantly moving from place to place, including different states on multiple occasions, I have given up on fancy furnishings that just get damaged with each move.

I'm currently just sleeping on the floor, no mattress or padding or anything. Just a blanket I lay down on.

Kinda feeling like some kind of filthy barbarian based on the responses here...

I'll get a mattress again when I finally land at a place I'm fairly certain I won't move from for 5 years...Tired of schlepping crap all over God's creation...

The beauty of getting older is that you are in so much baseline pain that the extra aches and pains from sleeping like utter dogshit don't really move the needle anymore...

Serious rant here, why can't these stupid mattress companies sew some handles onto the things to make moving them slightly less of a pain in the ass?

 

Even a non wine drinker can tell the difference between a $10 bottle and a $100 bottle. The difference between old grape juice and fermented grape juice is pretty vast.

 

Especially during "vigorous activities" in bed!

 

How rigorous can it be if it lasts all of 23.5 seconds...What are you some sort of Olympic decathlete?

 

If you rub it out more often, you might be able to get that lasting power up onto the minutes range...

You'll spend roughly a third of your life in one.

It's worth spending some money on one that gives you restorative sleep that your body needs.

My favourite kind of wine is beer.

When my wife and I got married, the guy at the liquor store was able to recommend an affordable wine that neither I nor the wine drinkers I know hated.

On those rare occasions I have to show up somewhere for a gathering, I like to bring a bottle or two of Prosecco. It's pretty versatile for a sparkling wine. Satisfies wine and beer people...

 

Nah. Just thought it was a different perspective on how employers expect a notice.

Yup. I agree. Notice is absurd these days.

Back when a company gave a shit, and showed it through things like great benefits and pensions, it made sense. Now? Employers try to screw you as much as their competition and customers.

I adopted a view that helps keep it all in perspective, and it applies to people in general.

Employees did not recognize the cost of pensions to the company. Then, unions pushed for Congress to guaranty pensions and ERISA is one of the most ridiculous laws ever enacted because it used taxpayer funding to benefit both employers and employees. By guarantying defined benefit pension plans it has cost taxpayers billions of dollars. Employers get the benefit of enhanced value in plans by being able to terminate and keep the surplus while impaired plans kill employers and cost the taxpayers. That is why you now have defined contribution plans like 401(k) plans. No loyalty by employers and no loyalty by employees.
