I love it when...From Sept-Dec 2024 I take the time to plan an epic 3-week vacation in August 2025 (with great advice from our Canadian brothers here), in January 2025 I politely ask my coworkers and manager if they have any concerns with the long vacation (none; they agree), bust nuts to get all the reservations set eight months in advance, map the routes out, figure out where to restock food, plan fun events, get the daughter a passport and the dog paperwork to cross into Canada, buy a fucking $500 tri-filter system cuz two reservations later admit the water they advertise as available for our trailer isn't exactly "potable", do Excel math to ensure I don't need an oil change on the trip, give the wife travel dates so she can plan working days (this is major cuz her work is on fire right now), call a meeting with my manager and peers in June when said manager refuses to hire a 4th person and August is looking like we will have only one person working for most of the month (cuz my coworkers have trips and vacation), tell a co-worker "oh hell no" when they ask if I can reduce my vacation to take a biz trip for them in two weeks cuz planning more than 2hrs ahead of now is difficult...only to have one of our reservations cancelled and then a back-up cancelled...which basically FUCKS. THE. ENTIRE. TRIP.

ugh...namaste. And a double-bird to the universe.

Plan C has been implemented. Daughter really wanted a stamp on the passport and that's not going to happen this year. That's a Dad Failure I have to accept. Alternate route planned that's less desirable, but still doable. Wife is so frazzled I almost had to use crayons and construction paper to show her the route. Good news is I don't have to de-freedom the truck and trailer this weekend.
