Joe Rogan has some good guests on at least once a month. Sometimes they're in command of a subject, and it's out of his knowledge zone, so he keeps his mouth shut. He's horrible about talking too much. I'm in the middle of his talk with Joe Pistone / Donnie Brasco, and it's pretty interesting.

There's a history podcast called 'A History of the United States' I've liked, with this Brit named Jamie Redfern that starts covering the earliest voyages to the Americas and moves through Jamestown and the early colonies, and is currently up to the early 19th century.

You have to understand the lens through which some of the political podcasts are viewed, but there's decent content from Tucker Carlson, Gad Saad, Darryl Cooper, Megyn Kelly, Adam Corolla, Ben Shapiro, etc. Plenty of sanctimony and hatemongering going on in those, but good content and thought provocation too.

All of this is on Spotify, so I'm not sure where else you can find any of it.

I’ve never actually listened to a podcast. I did come across this one but I haven’t listened to it.

Totally agree with you on Rogan. Sometimes he flat out talks too much. But does have some great guests on. I try not to listen to political podcasts because of the hate and fear mongering but they do provide clarity and perspective for us to practice critical thinking skills. I'm that typical dude who likes murder cases and comedy.

Podcasts mostly just seem like a circle jerk or a crazy, toxic debate.

It depends on what you consume. I follow Joe Rogan and Shawn Ryan but I skip a fair share of their episodes depending on who/what the guests and topics are. There is no shortage of culture war hate fueling drama podcasts out there. Those are the channels and episodes I personally skip.

Hate to say it but with the Country being as divided as it is, you get a lot of folks who are drawn to all the culture war drama like moths to a flame.

Yup, drugs being smuggled through the northern border was a bit of eye opener. Then again it's easy to discount the cartels as mindless barbarians when reality is something quite different.

Shawn Ryan, I’m going to give this a try. I’m for interesting stories and perspectives.

Current event discussions, policy debates and opinions, not so much.

Same, yet I'm going to SF this Friday. I never learn my lesson.
I'm taking my daughter to see Babymetal, Jinjer and Bloodywood.
It should be a phenomenal show and I'm excited to see it, but the 2 hour drive to get there (if there's no traffic) and the 2 hours back home after. Because I don't want to sleep in any place in that whole area. Not to mention parking in the area for the show is $50-$85. What a ripoff. Hotels are even worse.

Forgot to suggest brewing some black tea and rinsing it through your eyes once it's cool. Good remedy for clearing it up...

Set up two bags in my yard, AKA my private Botanical Garden. Each has 75-100 Japanese Beatles in it after 1/2 day.

It’s 95 F out here, cloudy, and not a breath of wind. Says it’s 20% humidity but damn it feels like 75%.

98 here, no clouds, no wind and 18% humidity. It's crazy how cloud cover can make it feel humid.

Yeah if you’re out there enough at mid day. I’m wondering how many hours it gets shade where you need it. And how much concern is there about keeping it from blowing into something. Or what do people do, add some small sand bags, or just lower it most of the time

Just the add to my earlier thought those umbrellas angle so that gives you more shade when the sun is low.
