I cooked a couple meals Thursday and took them to my Mom and Dad Friday.
Hung out and talked for a couple of hours, listening to my Dad complain.

Today the kids are taking me to lunch, wife (stepmom) is staying home.
She wants to make sure I visit with the kids without her doing all the talking.
Besides that I think she needs a day to herself after having me home for 5 months.
She'll see everyone next week for the granddaughter's first birthday party.

My wife and dogs got me a Texas iPhone case I wanted, a Dad's Day T-shirt with the dog's name on it, the Tornado air blow-out tool I asked for, and $100.

We are visiting my folks this weekend, so just hanging out. I don’t do cards or gifts. My mom’s birthday is this coming week so we brought her flowers.

I have a visceral dislike of store-bought cards. Both sending and receiving. Would rather send a text with my own words/thoughts or call the person.

Also, don't get bend out of shape. There's 5 main types of people on forums:

1. The DIYer that thinks they're experts and gets combative when someone has a counter argument for their project and can't take criticism.
2. People that give advice from their experiences and always looking for feedback
3. Weekend warriors trying to get into the DIY scene and soak up the information
4. DIYers that have encountered an issue they're not familiar with and needs advice
5. People trying to unload their extra crap

Not worth getting bent out of shape over anything. Just roll with the punches and move on.
