A couple of weeks back I was driving somewhere and I noticed a lifted sandy colored Tundra had stopped right in front of an intersection with his hazards on. I watched as the driver got out and approached a Porsche that was behind him and I remember thinking to myself, "Oh boy, we got a road rage scene unfolding here".

The driver of the Tundra approached the driver side of the Porsche and signaled that there was something on the roof of his car. As I drove by, I saw that it was a cell phone that had accidentally been left on the canvas top of the Porsche.

It was a small thing but I couldn't help but wonder how many people would have stopped to help. I asked myself if I would have stopped to help. My biggest fear for myself is not becoming immoral, dishonest or anything along those lines. It's more that I have consciously noticed that my heart has hardened over time and I have allowed myself to become jaded. I'm a much more distant, colder and at times uncaring person than I was as a young person.

I’ve been thinking about buying an E-Mountain bike, since I think if I got a dirt bike, I would end up breaking my neck.

Class 1 pedal assist bike is what I’m thinking. One that looks as normal and quiet as possible, because I think a lot of people on the trails hate them.

The problem is there are many single track trails where you can’t ride them, I’ve heard it’s because of trail etiquette being breached.

Other option is to find some new hobbies. Maybe a lake with a ski boat is what we need. :)

Whatever this forum told me to do
    I can relate.

but I don't put that onus on myself.

    Humanity has earned my/our attitude.

I still do civilized things for folks. it's just rarer.

    ______
    Ponder this:

When is the last time someone did something nice for you - without you asking? (non-transactional)

this is a tough question I ask folks when the conversation gets to a trusted point.

it creates a catalyst for deeper, inward discussions

the usual answer is it's usually your family. sad, right?

we are all aware of our comfort circles. I have a "be nice" circle, too.
very few people get to be there.

sure, I'm courteous to the general public. but that's because of my upbringing.

yutes these days suck at courtesy. Social media/cell phones ruined them.

Well, I’m the most cynical person I know. Which is why I’m assuming the Porsche driver was a hot chick.

I have had this recurring dream theme for years at this point, with the last one happening two nights back:

I'm either "moving home" such as packing belongings to move or getting in a car to "go home" this is usually after visiting someone in the dream. The other aspect of the dream is that home is always a far away place.

It is always the same theme of leaving wherever I am at so that I can go home. Sometimes I take my parents (both deceased) with me.

Curious what everyone thinks my subconscious is trying to tell me?

I do this - - try to ascribe some meaning to dreams. Sometimes they're just random synapses firing off. Like some uneducated AI that puts six fingers on hands, three legs on women (oh, the frustration of having to choose which - - oh never mind), or has me trying to get my car going like Fred Flintstone. Not sure it's ever a good idea to try and parse a dream for some meaning.

That's fair but would you feel the same way if it had been ongoing for over 7 years? I'm thinking it is just my restless nature coming through but it's the "going home" that throws me for a loop.

These dreams followed me to Arizona. In fact they became stronger. I'm currently living where I grew up at, so this is as close to being "home" in that sense as I can get.

I've had a few recurring dreams for more than 30 years. A flying dream where my flying skills are tenuous, and there's always power lines looming over head; a running dream where I'm putting in maximum effort but not moving very fast at all; and the ever popular naked and/or lost locker in high school.

If I were you, I'd take @GODZILLA's advice and move out of Commiefornia; but not because of a dream.;)

I relate to all of this.
People aren't as friendly as they used to be, I agree some of it is a generational issue..

I'll say 'Hi' or 'what's up' to anyone who looks me in the eye.
Problem is, most people (coworkers included) look at me like I fucked their mother if they look at all.
Unfortunately, I feel part of that is a race-based attitude on their part, but we won't get into all that.

I'm somewhat nice when I'm out and about.
I'll put a grocery cart for someone who's finished with it.
I'll put a grocery cart in the corral if it's loose and may roll into someone's vehicle, happened twice to me.
Offer to help someone at Lowe's or HD load something into their vehicle if they look like they need it.
I'll hold the door for someone behind me, man or woman, and say 'you're welcome' when they don't acknowledge it.

Most of the time, I keep to myself.
I don't entertain people asking for money or trying to sell me something in public.
I usually say no as they approach me and 'fuck off' if they keep on.

    To family;
I hardly speak to my sisters, they don't like my political beliefs.
I don't give two shits about thiers, it is part of the reason they have the life situations they have.
When my parents pass, I'll probably not speak to them at all.
My wife speaks to very few members of her family, there is a lot of bitterness and resentment on their part.
She simply doesn't have the desire to deal with their drama.

Speaking of family, today I'm going to cook a couple of meals to take to my parents tomorrow for Father's Day.
Kids have plans for me Sunday, so I'm see my Dad tomorrow.
I can't buy him anything, he has everything he needs at 87 years old.
It's best to just cook for him.........

Whatever this forum told me to do
    slightly agree.

but there is only a wee small amount of time one can ski on any given popular lake.

too much traffic and the glass goes away.

wake surfing is my happy medium. and age appropriate.

skiing is too fast. it hurts when you fall.

even wake boarding is too fast. it hurts when you fall.

I can see how surfing would cause grief on a smaller lake or narrowish river.

We are luck to be on a big enough lake that it is not an issue.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    again...age appropriate. (57yrs)

I did all that crazy shit back in the day.

and wake surfing is easy to manage.

I can stand there and surf while taking in the groovy scene.

    or

I can turn up the heat and pull off some goofy shit.

and when I fall....and I do a lot....I generally fall into water softened by the prop cavitation.
