Sorry to hear about the job situation. I wish you the best of luck as you navigate through the job landscape.

I had a couple of interviews in the last month but wasn't successful in landing anything. The job market in my area has really cooled down since the end of March.

Part of the challenge I am dealing with is that I don't want to manage or supervise anyone anymore so that removes some of the few job openings right out of the gate.

I know I'll eventually find something but the idleness is hard for me to deal with at times.

 

I'm quite pleased with myself that I know what that means.

Haven't had any direct reports for the last 3 years (after 17 years with) and my work stress level has gone WAY down.

They have Internet on a lot of jails.... Granted it is restricted and monitored, but it wouldn't be the first time an inmate was able to gain more access to the outside world

 

It was a few years back but we had a bank robbery that was caught on camera. The bank robber is seen casually walking out of the bank and then pauses to cross the street before he merrily strolls down the sidewalk. No get away car, no nothing. just walked away. And this bank was a stones throw from the Frisco PD, so it's likely he walked right past the front of the PD on his get away walk. He eventually got caught a month or so later because the towns street camera caught a good pic of his smiling face.


Here's the kicker: He was a substitute teacher in the next county over.

There’s someone in my building that completely napalms the elevator in the morning. Twice now in two weeks I have gotten into the elevator to go get coffee and nearly been knocked over.

Last night’s menu included cabbage.

Well played secret stankman. But since I run the risk of being blamed when I get off the elevator on the first floor, I do hope someday you shit yourself.

A CU I bank with was robbed by one of it's employees with the help of his buddy.

 

Hell... many places are now issuing iPads to inmates so they can 'research', etc...

 

Get off your ass and go pick it up.

 

They are still limited on what they can do. I know at the jail I worked at, almost everything they did on the tablets was charged. So they had to have funds on their books to even use it outside of placing kites to see medical or other things like that.

Yeah... sucks too, because facilities that house contract prisoners (especially federal) really have to loosen up on their restrictions to meet federal inmate standards which are much less restrictive than typical City or County facilities.

better than Galveston County jail food tho...
