IIRC but I think you're spot on. I had been on the forum for a little but not much involved til I stumbled in here. The side shot of me and my skivies in question stems back to a snowboarding injury I was documenting.

I worry less about the truck, that's for sure. If I can manage my time better and get stuff sorted to get out and go camping with it and do some minor additions then I'm sure I'll love it more. Still not the biggest fan of the TTV6, but I can't buy used. I've seen too much of what people think is fine for a 1/2 ton. LOL

I worked for the IRS for a few years back in my mid 20's. If you wanted out of work for an hour a day, four days a week, for (IIRC) 4 months, you could take a free, live sign language class. The government (at least the IRS) hires plenty of people with differences, so there was a community of deaf people there, and they were friendly with the folks taking the class. It was fun.

The instructor could speak somewhat, after years of training, but was fully deaf. And she was capital H, capital O, capital T, hot. And single with a kid, which I was too. So I'm sitting there on the second day unsuccessfully trying to learn how to say 'Thank you' while simultaneously planning how I was going to approach her. About half an hour in on that second day she started talking about how exhausting it was that hearing guys were always flirting with her, and how she was looking for a nice deaf guy to date.

So I learned a lot in that class.

 

Glad to hear it! We rented a third gen when we were in Montana last summer. Ended up putting some 300ish miles on it over the course of a long weekend, the new trucks are sweet. And yes, seeing what some people tow with these trucks is insanity lol

Nice! What trim did you get when you rented? Did you get a good feel for it or was it all just interstate driving?

 

SR5 with TRD Off-road. So pretty much the new version of my truck. We did some interstate, county roads, around town, pretty much all normal driving outside of any dirt miles, and I thought I got a good feel for its manners. Those turbos are fun in sport mode, that’s for sure

 

Yeah, the SR5 TRD Off Road is the sweet spot for value and capability. The only things I got by going limited that mattered to me were the 360° cameras and the more comfortable (for me) seats. @VelcrowKnight was kind enough to let me drive his for 120-150 miles and I would have taken the cloth seats version if our sales guy couldn't find the TRD Off Road Premium or the Limited.

I definitely think it feels like a blend of my 2019 Tundra and my 2023 TRD Pro Taco that I had previously. The Taco Grande tag definitely seems to fit.

 

Don't worry, that will definitely slow down after the kid is born...

Yup, totally agree. The wife and I test drove a new Tacoma last week (she wants a truck and NEEDS something newer than her cherokee), and man those things feel tiny on the inside, and the outside dimensions of the truck are marginally smaller than my 16 Tundy. Likely going with a Canyon AT4X, but time will tell.

HA, I'm fully aware that things will only get more insane.
