Personally, I'll only road trip the Tesla if it's not an inconvenience.

One short supercharge a day is my threshold.

While in Mexico for 8 days, the SOC went from 78% to 74%. Not too shabby

 

SOC = State of charge?

So it lost 4% in a week of no activity?

Yeah, 4% isn't bad at all. Think about your phone sitting there and how much it loses in a day. Airplane mode helps, but it still drains down. The Car is running a bunch of stuff in the background even when it's "off" so 4% really isn't bad at all.

 

For an EV I think the Scouts look the best. Plus, just poked around their site a little, and this bit of info is pretty cool.



Looks like they are offering a version with a gas generator to extend range. I legit love the look and idea of this on the outside, but I'm worried it'll have a tesla type interior.

 

Scratch the interior worry. It looks nice.

Too bad it'll probably be near 6 figures and likely over that if you get the range extended version. Vehicles are just too damn costly these days.

This week in Mexico, my wife was drooling over a good looking matte Frontier Pro-4X in traffic

 

Man, the Frontier looks fantastic. It really does, but the seats smoke my back in short order and the steering wheel controls felt unnatural to me. I hated it. Which was a bummer, because it towed my bike on a heavy ass uhaul trailer all the way back from CA without any issues. It's really well executed if you find it comfortable. Just ask Matt @Black Wolf as he loves his.

Yeah.. that wouldn't be good for my back then.
I prefer the Tesla seats over my truck, even though the Tundra has a little more legroom

 

Plus it's a VW.

That's not what I'm saying. I am LITERALLY (correct use of the word) the only person I know that the Nissans wreck like this. Everyone else raves about the comfort. If might be great for you.

IDK if VW is good with EVs or not. I really haven't looked at a VW since I was young and drove an oooooold golf in high school, and when I was even younger riding around in my sister's VW Bug.

 

@NWPirate how are you adjusting back to the grind?

 

I think they make a decent EV but to drag the Scout name down attaching it with an EV, then it's actually a VW.
