Ok folks, time for a rant. Every week I buy a 6 pack of Philadelphia cream cheese from Costco. I have some for breakfast every morning. Costs about $13ish for the pack which compared to my grocery store is 40% cheaper.

Last week I went to buy more as I was running out and lo and behold, where the 6 packs of Philadelphia cream cheese used to be, now there are 6 packs of Kirkland cream cheese. Kirkland brand stuff is generally not bad and usually just name brand stuff repackaged. No big deal right? Had my first taste of the Kirkland this morning. Tastes awful compared to Philadelphia and the consistency is off.

I absolutely hate it when I have been buying a food staple from Costco for years and it gets switched out for a sub par Kirkland item on the shelves. They still have the massive tubs of Philadelphia cream cheese but I like the smaller 6 packs because I could eat them fast enough before they got crusty and nasty.

Going to return them when I hit Costco this weekend.

This is why I say it's a bias and a dig. Not to mention right after your initial post of saying you wanted to learn Mexican your follow up post went into a rant about immigration and how it's ruining healthcare. Like it's not big pharma and the legal drug pushers ruining healthcare, but the immigrants.

It's not like I don't know who you be, standing there with your arms crossed looking at me.

FTR Mexicans can and do speak Spanish. They can and do communicate with all other Spanish speaking countries. Now Argentina is the one country that speaks it quite differently. But they aren't speaking Argentine, it's still Spanish with a huge Influence of Italian due to the Italians that settled there.

Illegal immigration hurts healthcare thru the abuse of Medicaid. it's ginormous.
the collateral effects are , as you say, big pharma charging more. they have to.

yes, they speak Spanish, and many dialects of Spanish. it gets hodge-podged when they comingle here. I happily call it Mexican.

and yes, I am not a fan of illegal immigration.

the collateral effects are bigger than we can imagine.

I have a love/hate relationship with Costco for just this reason. They know what they’re doing too. It’s one thing to slap the Kirkland brand on something vs. changing the formula and then rebranding.

We have been pondering driving 30 min to a different Costco b/c they fine-tune their inventory so well that what we want in the actual Kirkland store is not available. We don’t fit the “average customer” profile anymore.

Our healthcare system isn't designed for our health. It's a symptom of capitalism which makes it a profit driven business. Big pharmaceutical isn't necessarily charging more. It's the constant advertisements of take this for that and it'll give you ten times more ailments. But no worries, we have some more meds for those too. They don't want you heathy, because then you're no longer a customer.

Now the abuse of Medicaid is also a huge problem but it's not just the illegal immigrants doing that. We have plenty of our own running that tab up.

You can happily call it Mexican all day long.

    That's a lot.

I don't want to assume your intent. That's why I am asking. I don't know you and assuming your motives would be foolish. You appear to be assuming mine with the "hall monitor" label that could imply things, but text is a shit way to communicate and those implications might not be your actual intent.

Whatever this forum told me to do

agreed. today's healthcare is to make $.

medicaid/care sets healthcare costs. no matter what anyone else says. they do a large % of the biz. yes, that makes our system socialized medicine.

you and I pay for all that free healthcare.

"capitalism" is true. but that only stems from the system wanting to make a profit off of the folks that actually pay the bill.

when I left in 2014...medicaid/care was only paying 12 cents on the dollar. that's why prices are high.

BC/BS was paying ~17 cents on the dollar.

    I doubt it's different now.

Ex: I personally know of 5 large hospitals in Houston that have ~90% of their revenue come from medicaid. not medicare. I processed that shit for 10years.

it's medicaid because the majority of the revenue comes from anchor babies.

I'm sure is vastly different in non-border states.

I'm sorry. I'm definitely stuck on the first line. No judgement, just curious. You buy a 6 pack every week?
I just actually switched over and bought the 3lb tub of Philly cream cheese. It's way cheaper that way instead of spending $5 for a very small portion at the grocery store.

My at work breakfast every morning (and I only work 4 days a week) is as follows.

1 egg and 8 oz of egg whites mixed in a small glass container with lid (so I can transport it) and then microwaved for 5 minutes. I only like the consistency of egg whites when they're microwaved, otherwise they're too fluffy. The microwave cooks them more dense if that makes sense.
2 pieces of sourdough bread with cream cheese on both pieces. I make an egg sandwich out of these. I'll try and remember to take a picture tomorrow morning.

The 3lb tub of cream cheese will last months for me.

Mostly bagels but it's also good in a number of other things. Chili cheese dips, cheesecakes, frostings, pastas. The list is truly endless. I use it in bagels with lox, capers and red onions. A small tub from the grocery is good for a week in my family of 4.
