Art Blakey is probably the best jazz drummer to ever grace our presence. I know there's not a lot of jazz lovers here but if you care to listen to a great upbeat fast paced jazz tune check this one out.

 

Metallica is definitely better than Nickelback.

I looked up this Luther Vandross character. I can't say I hate his music, but I wouldn't actively seek it out.

My timeline was accurate...last year's flub doesn't even register on my radar. Might have been when I took a timeout from the internet...The explosion 5 years ago had a few regulars digging thru decades old posts to find "evidence" that the Mods were changing the rules just to flex on everyone. Threads got locked down while Mods held court, a few regulars got kicked out, we lost a good Mod in the battle and those that stayed started the "good morning america" thread in defiance. I was still a new pleb back then but this thread nearly died...

 

Don't get me wrong, I love the 60mpg I get. I've even got the "enviro score" on the dash for fun. But it's loud AF, the speaker suck AF, and size matters in the war zones of the freeways around here. It's a fun little car...just not my ideal platform.

 

A couple of you mentioned the pension...I'm lucky in that I can cash my pension out when I retire. I only had about 8 years invested when we approved the freeze of the pension, so it won't be epic. But I will take the money and run.

 

Music...Someone mentioned Depeche Mode recently. Love that band. Cut my teeth on their 101 set, but love Music for the Masses and Violator. Another all time fav is The Cure's Mixed Up.

Speaking of music, been going through the 17,000 pictures on my laptop recently doing a big edit. Finally did a disk scan and realized I had 36gb of music saved. Totally forgot I spent a few weeks about 15 years ago ripping nearly all of the 250ish CDs the wife and I had. None of us have listened to the music in at least a decade. Not since the start of Pandora and Spotify...deleted all of it. Sold the CDs long ago to help fund a weekend in Vegas...if the apocalypse happens now I'm phuked.

 

Your list is very good. Except for Deftones. I absolutely love their first two albums but not much at all after that. They're a local band for me and I've seen them at very small clubs when they were first starting. I may or may not have hung around them in another life.

I just saw Trivium, Bullet for my Valentine, August Burns Red and Sylosis last Friday.

I'm going to see Whitechapel, Brand of Sacrifice, 200 Stab Wounds and Alluvial this Friday.

Agreed on Deftones, Around the Fur is almost a weekly listen for me. And I'm jealous of Alluvial, I've been a huge fan of theirs ever since The Deep Longing for Annihilation came out.

 

Never listened to them, tbh.

I do listen to Spotify when I'm working from home but I don't have enough data to listen to it while I'm out.
