Absolutely. Hack, slash, burn, salt the earth.

They'll be fine once they do the math and realize that it all evens out as well as the country becoming much more business friendly and the population having more disposable income to spend/invest. We also need to ban lobbyists and corruption as well as institute term limits.

Legacy laws should also be in place. Your daddy was president/prime minister? You never will be. You should never be allowed to climb above one step below what a previous family member did in the politicial system.

I have thoughts on the Canadian system, that I'll avoid getting into here, but basically it would require a complete tear down of our current system, disconnection from the bloody Brits, and a ground up rebuild of everything from the alleged Charter of Rights and Freedoms (lol, what a joke that is), the Constitution (another joke) and our legal system. Ideally, a form of balkanization would occur.

America doesn't need quite so much of a gut job thanks to their Constitution and the checks and balances worked in their system but from what I can see they do need some pretty serious shake ups as well.

Mostly agree. And I havent put a lot of stake in the generations before, but I do agree now that I think about it. Multiple generations *coughs at the kennedys in power is nothing but trouble. These top tier politicians need to be closed out too. To call it service and then they spend their whole lives in it getting stupid rich.... while preventing us from making ours... yeah, no go.

The issue our countries face is the power of those who could pull this off. they are not incentivized to make this happen, it is better for them to keep status quo.

You as an individual making for example $100,000 per year as an employee will pay $10,000 per year. With that, you get to use all the tax payer funded benefits like employment insurance, base level healthcare, etc.

The corporation making $1,000,000 per year will pay $50,000 in taxes (5 times more than you) but a corporation not being a person doesn't get to use healthcare, EI etc. Don't forget, the CEO making $200,000 will pay $20,000 in taxes. Between the corporation and the CEO, in my little scenario the government brings in $70,000 in taxes, 7 times more than you as an individual have paid. As a percentage of income, it doesn't seem "fair" for the corporations to pay "less" tax than an individual, but when the numbers actually come in, once again the higher earning entities pay the lions share meanwhile virtually everyone has more money in their pocket.

We need to encourage corporations to innovate, develop and grow here. Incentivizing them to do business here is beneficial to everyone. I'm ok with adjusting numbers if it keeps our country's corporate tax rate well below global average while also providing the required tax revenue to run the government services.

Meanwhile in Canada, the postal service goes on strike so you don't get the letter and the CRA assigns crippling penalties.

Correct. The root of the problem is the people with the power to fix the problem who also benefit from the problem. Vicious circle. The one thing the French got right was the guillotine on the steps of parliament...

My wife thinks it's easier to pay the penalties than to gather the evidence that we don't actually need to pay them and send it in. :frusty:

NO - it will take at least a couple of decades for the Loper Bright case to work its way through the levels of government and courts

There's a window here for abuse. Say a dude invents a widget, LLCs himself up, and hires someone as his only employee to weld the widgets. After he pays the welder $100k, his net profits are $100k. He doesn't reinvest, he just takes profit. He claims 2 employees, his welder and himself, and pays himself $1/yr.

The LLC owns a house and a car, and regularly buys meals for one of its employees (him). The tax burden on the LLC is $5k, and the owner enjoys the same lifestyle as his welder, who pays $10k.

There are certainly details to be worked out. I would say to start with, LLC's can't buy homes and cars for employee personaly use.

So you're going to put more of a burden on CPP and OAS? Or those won't exist either?

Ah taxes. The real gov scam. I'm glad to see we're getting into this topic as the true theft of our wages. (And freedom)

In order for the tax problem to be reorganized we start here. All lobbyists and congress themselves are led straight to that French parliament porch for a visit with Mr. G. Or we could back the gallows?

This right here is a good start to the solution. Not entirely problem free, but a great way to look at resetting the criminal enterprise that taxes have become.

Unfortunately, as outlined here, there will likely be no solutions because there is no incentive for one. Unless we complete step one.

CPP wouldnt exist. No need if people have more money to invest themselves and financial education is requried in schools.

OAS would exist, but it'd need to be revamped. How I haven't worked out yet.
