Love how @T-Rex266 is keeping in tune with this thread while he is sitting in his teams meeting. Now that's a perfect example of why meetings aren't even worth the time they consume.

No I'm not saying the marines need women leading men. I'm saying men have a false belief system based on time of service giving them ability to lead. Climbing corporate ladders is similar.

your second comment, well I'm not taking that bait.

[queue 1960's news intro sounds] I feel I should say - - While I am in no way disparaging others for their views; I'd like to point out that not all of us from The Great State hold these opinions. It should be pointed out that I don't live in Austin proper, my hair is its natural color, I own and enjoy firearms, I hunt and eat what I kill, I don't bother myself with compunction for inflicting bodily harm and death on those who threaten the same on me, and I can very often be found in conversations that could be described as politically incorrect. All of that to say I'm a real Texan. Women belong wherever the fuck they want.

To sum up my point here is that leadership is not based on gender. It's a multitude of many facets that make good leaders. And it starts with parenting. As children grow they learn from their teachers. Gender does not define a good leader, the character does more so than anything else.

Lost power and internet for 22 hours. No cell phone data, just basic text. We lasted about 14 hours on our 10 KWh battery on the solar system. I pulled out the generator and ran on that till the power came on. It was the first time I had to run the generator on this house, so glad it worked. I also confirmed it charged the battery back up, good to know. That way I can run the generator and then go back to the battery for the night. There were about 640,000 household without power per reports. Some power outages in some areas. Per my records, it was 5 years since I last used the generator. I really like the propane fuel, as it’s clean. Electric start on the generator worked also. Original battery, over 10 years old but I charge it once in a while. I did change the oil yesterday, as it’s been awhile.

You're absolutely correct that leadership isn't gender exclusive. It's a skill set and traits that support those skills that make a good leader.

However, some traits are heavily displayed in one or the other gender. There are exceptions to the rules, but the rules are where the generalizations come from. The exceptions do not disprove the rules as false because the exceptions are rarities.

    For devils advocate sake...

If we hold unto belief systems from the past we don't allow ourselves to adapt or grow. A lot of men have a belief that they are superior based upon the chains we (well our great grandfathers and beyond) assigned to women as caregivers, homemakers, emotional wrecks, etc. If we see them as human we stop assigning them traits that they don't truly have. We assume they have the trait based on a fallacy of history and how they were discriminated against simply by being born as a woman.

I myself support women. I don't judge them by their gender. I judge them, as well as all men, by their character.

In my experience, I have had leadership that has been male and female. And either can be great or shitty. I try not to judge based on sex but rather performance and looking out for the people you lead.

Different people have different strengths, if you pigeon hole them due to gender you short change them and pigeon hole yourself.

Someone mentioned women belong in the kitchen, some of the best chefs (kitchen) are men, and I consider myself to be a damn good cook. My ex-wife (woman) couldn’t boil an egg, so some women should not be in the kitchen.

I don't pre-judge. One of the best bosses I ever had was a woman.

Doesn't change the fact that psychological traits are heavily influenced by gender.

Perspective. Logic and emotion can conclude to the same outcome, but by different means. Perspective can cloud the appearance of who's facilitating leadership.

I was a COO for a company who was ran by an emotional wreck of a man. A real cunt. He eventually tanked the business while pursuing his own wants.

Juxtapose that to a female partner at a firm, for whom I worked. She was the most calculating & well composed person I have ever met, who could seemingly handle any situation with class.

Perhaps both are the exception and not the norm. But it taught me that anyone can be a good or a bad leader.

Now how 'bout some manly shit! The new DeWALT DCF964

Actually, it's strong male role models that guarantee success.

Kids raised predominantly by their fathers tend to do as well as kids raised in traditional families. Kids raised predominantly by their mothers tend to struggle later in life.

Exactly my point. There is no rule when it comes to gender and leaders. There are so many real life experiences that support both men and women can be poor and great leaders.

dewalt? @T-Rex266 what you think of this?
