So you're saying only men know how to be leaders? Not sure I'm following how gender has anything to do with leading a successful businesses. I've worked for some of the worst people that were very poor leaders. Happened to be men. I also currently work alongside a very respected leader who happens to be woman. Personally I don't think being a good leader has anything to do with gender.

Totally agree. Not that it matters but I keep all my location services, photo access, etc off. I'm sure they can tune in whenever they want though.

I've been in some project HAZOPs (risk reviews) where the facilitator literally threw all the unnecessary people out.

The EPC project engineers like to have all their discipline engineers in the review so they can address any questions that come up in the meeting rather than doing their job of taking the questions back to the team then bringing the answers back to the client's project manager.

You're entitled to your opinion and you've presented a strawman argument. I never said females couldn't lead at all in in certain roles/positions; they can. Just not at the top. I don’t disagree that many a man has and will fail, sometimes spectacularly, at running a profitable business, but you will never find a female who built a business from scratch and sustains it profitably for decades without her feelings about things getting in the way of it.

Edit: and men who understand will not follow her.

@nobodyintexas I have some good meltdown stories. Here's one.

I was working in the southeast in the '90s. It was me and two other employees, we were a small office for a larger company. I was in charge as an interim manager, my boss had left about a year after they hired me.

Me and another guy, I will call him Ted, were the two main employees. There was a woman who was an "office manager", she was the third hub in the wheel. I'll call her Karen. Ted was the analyst, and I was the make-it-work guy.

Anyway, it turns out that Ted was a train wreck and had been for a long time. One morning, I arrive at the office. This is a nice office in a high rise building. There's a lot of stuff all over the place on our main work table, and the place smells like booze. There are rolled up dollar bills on the work table. Ted is asleep in his chair. When he was functional, he was very good at what he did.

Karen arrives, I ask her to sit tight and not do anything, don't call anyone, while I get Ted home, and then we talk about next steps. While I'm out driving him home and getting him settled, Ambitious Karen decides this is her opportunity to make her move, and calls the corporate office. Ted gets fired that day. Eventually, we get rid of Karen but that is another, less interesting story.

A few nights later, Ted goes out with a 0.22 pistol and robs several convenience stores. He's now toast, going to jail. In the newspaper article, he's quoted as saying "I guess I was unhappy about losing my job."

Many years later, I heard that he was killed in a shootout with police. Ted is dead. Don't be Ted.

    The End

You know what fixes this problem -- an aluminum foil hat, and also maybe one for the phone. Try it! :p:rofl:

When my wife is looking to buy something on Marketplace, she can only find expensive local options or cheap options that are far away.

As soon as she buys one of those options, she's flooded with cheap local listings for whatever she just bought.

I told her to start telling her phone that she bought something before she checks the listings but it hasn't worked so far. Maybe they're watching our bank account too.

Had an instructor once that said the brain can only absorb what the ass can endure. He gave frequent breaks and broke the class up (about a 16-20 hour class) into frequent activities pertinent to the training that got us up and moving. Dude has always gotten stellar feedback, and his classes were always full.

I don't even go to my union meetings.
I learned long ago it was a waste of time.:eek2:
Not to mention the union hall is an hour's drive each way..

The Locals in a right-to-work state are just a fixture.
    They don't get much done..

But let's not turn this into Teamster/Union talk.
    It is what it is..

Thanks for clarifying. However there is no strawman argument here. I directly asked the question of your views. Than gave an example of how the company I help lead is led by a woman.

And since we're now generalizing, it is absolutely true that both genders have flaws when it comes to defining what a leader is.

    Woman/emotional
    Men/egocentric

Both have their upside and downside. But what defines a good leader is how they lead not how they take a piss.

Same here. We get a Zoom link the day of and I can particpate from the station, or if off, sit on my patio and eat, drink, smoke a stogie, or watch the grass grow while I listen. Also very true about right-to-work states. Overall, our state union has some decent support at the state level in politics, but our best local support is from the local pols that support us.

If a woman is strong she's labeled narcissistic, having penis envy or a total bitch. However it's the men labeling these woman who are just a bunch of pussies who refuse to take orders from a woman. Because if that same boss was a man the the labels change.

you wanna talk cave man shit look at the heirachy of animals kingdoms.

    Oracs
    Moose
    Lions
    Bears
    Elephants
    Hyenas

Run by females. Unfortunately men have the gender superiority complex. Because we are stronger we think we are better. My main point is that being a leader has nothing to do with gender.

comparing us to animals is a stretch, as I have never worked for/with an elephant.

When things go bad....real bad...Men fix it....women tend to freak out.

    It's just human nature.

    Devil's advocate here, for funsies.

If you want to point to nature as an example, at least use primates as that's what we are. With lemurs being the exception, the vast majority of primates are patriarchal in their power structures.

I still don't have life experiences that agree with this. It's the person. Not the gender.

Perfectly good discussion and yes primates are what we descend from. Chimps and apes being closet to us, both have a hierarchy of males dominance.

lemurs and bonobos are the only caveat.

    Same.
I'll use my marine corps experience as an example. More dumb ass men lead us. Well they didn't lead per se, but had time and rank that put them in Leadership. Not that I'm asking for women to be in military leadership roles over men. Just using it as a foundation of why I believe men have a biased opinion about how time gives them ability.

business; I've worked for more woman chefs that keep their shit together and aren't throwing plated dishes all over the place. Tell me Gordon Ramsay and his blast off inability to control himself while he is throwing plates isn't emotional.
