Whaaaa?!? That’s around the time some of my favorite bands started picking up momentum: Poison the Well, Glass Jaw, From Autumn to Ashes, Finch, Hopesfall, Alexisonfire, Thursday, Thrice… The Used (they were called Dumb Luck back then - got to see quite a few shows before Burt figured auto-tune and they got big, haha).

For me, music seemed to go to shit around the time Hawthorne Heights was briefly popular. They were a black eye to post-hardcore.

Don't get me wrong, there was some good metal around that time. But not as much as the late 70s through the early 90s.

Priest put out a good album in 2005
Megadeth put out good albums in 2004 and 2007
Sleep put out Dopesmoker in 1999
Om, Electric Wizard, Acid King, The Sword, Isis, Earth, Sunn O))), Boris, Agalloch, Drudkh...

however, I was deep in the golden age of music. graduated high school in '85.

music was awesome. most every genre. <Never got into rap/urban music.>

recordings were still analog. Humans still played the instruments.


ahhhh...and my stereo in the car. Man, when I tell you I was cutting edge...believe me.

not so much now. kids, life, etc.


here's the question(s)...How many of us:

have been in the presence of a very high end music system?
have a high end sound system?
have a subwoofer?
listen to un-compressed music. (flac?) cd's, vinyl
run a true 5.1 system?
can sit and listen to music without social media in their hand?

listening to music - on a full spectrum system - is magical. (concerts)


one of my life goals that I have adhered to is always have music going in my home.
I guess it the whole "whistle while you work" thing.

and I always have music going at my desk, here at work. (2 Audioengine 5+'s 2 feet from my ears.)
