    For a no cost option I use Ventusky; it'll do radar, wind, swell, satellite, pressure, sea, humidity, t-storms, snow cover, air quality, freezing level, and even possibility of aurora :thumbsup:

    When we were flying around in helicopters, we'd use it for wind gusts and distance on t-storms (gusts over 50-60) and t-storms w/in 10 miles were a no-no... It's pretty flexible too (ex>> if you're looking at windspeed or temp you can select ground level, 2m above, sea surface, 1k', 2.5k', etc....)

    Weather reports and predictions from airports are also a bit more accurate, so I us AeroWeather lite (no cost) for a more 'report' based look...

    It'll give you charts, SIGMETs (advisories), IFR/VFR conditions, etc... just input the airport code (LAX, PDX, etc...) and it even pics up small muni airports, etc... You can set to have it displayed as RAW data or Decoded to make it easier to read.

    Disclaimer as most free apps have: Not for operational or navigational use (IE>> Can't log a flight plan based on the apps data) Gotta pay for that $hit :thumbsup:

    We had triple time, but it was contractual not state based... I'd work Thanksgiving, Good Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Years most years. It gave a couple of our other guys an opportunity to be home w/their families even though they didn't have the seniority to request the days off, and it gave me enough $$ to spend 6 weeks on vaca every year in San Diego :cool:
