Whatever this forum told me to do
we have “different “ predators here in houston

and like bears, it does not help to run, as they run faster

Well , most are ambush type predators, so it helps to have your head on a swivel

I hate that people have succumbed to wearing yoga pants, sweat pants and all other manner of what I consider to be house pants in public. The casual attire in public trends should be banned! But not flip flops of course. I'm civil enough to wear those with a t shirt and shorts that have belt loops and 5 pockets.

I did notice this when I was in AK. But since I wasn't there long and just traveling I also didn't stop to think about why. :anonymous: But I also wouldn't run from a griz. I'm gonna play dead on that one.

    Didn't notice any, I don't think.

At the Dollar Store the other day, I noticed an interesting couple. She was dressed in business casual or maybe just one step below. Looked like a teacher. He was wearing rainbow Crocs (can't remember if he had socks), sweat pants and a hoodie from the most expensive car dealership in town.

My kids will. But you're aren't wrong about their peers. And can we truly point the finger at the kids? It's the parents raising them. Not teaching them. They are they problem.

We teach kindness, understanding and the ability to hold an opinion to heart. We teach boundaries, respect for oneself and the ability to see through fallacies. We teach self reliance, and empathy and resilience.

Awareness is key for sure. I've traveled all over the world and into many "scary places" as some would like to suggest. How you carry yourself is number one. Make sustained eye contact with any suspect people. If you look and act like a target. Well, then you'll find yourself being one. And I've also never been one to carry. Most times a knife but nothing else.

I knew they had bears in Alaska that you may have to run from, but I didn't know there were Crocs that has to be out ran as well.

I know Texans get a bad rap from a lot of folks about being redneck or otherwise uncouth; but in a world full of people trying to tell us what and what not to say, one thing we can (at least for now) still say is:

After I had my first hernia surgery, I felt bad wearing pajama pants in public but I couldn't comfortably wear jeans and there was no way my wife was going to go to the grocery store.

I probably should be more embarrassed to wear jeans with holes in public than I am. That's a simple economic proposition, though. New jeans cost ~$60-80 these days and they're so cheaply made that I tear holes in the knees within a year, especially if I'm playing on the floor with my kids a lot. I'm not going to wear jeans with holes in them to work or church or places like that. So if I don't want to have to buy one or two new pairs every year, I have to wear the ones with holes when I'm running errands and places like that.

They're not. I didn't love the idea of opening a bottle with a tool that might have been on the floor at a public bathroom. They're popular, though. I also liked H&H and Gumbies, but they were all out of size 11 and won't be getting more until spring. I'm gonna have my ass in the sand and a drink in my hand in October, and my current pair won't make it, so I got the Reefs.

    I'm pretty hard on pants.

I have to have rip-stop cargo pants.

the only jeans/pants that work with me are Wrangler Riggs. I get them at the Wrangler outlet for $35.

When the temp is at or below 55 I wear stretch jeans, and a hoodie. Above 55 I wear a long sleeve fishing shirt and thin breathable stretchy pants.
