Galveston has the Lone Star Rally. >150k folks on mostly Harleys some say 400k

the local restaurants and shops enjoy the Harley riders...they spend $.

the other folks....they just cause trouble. They had to ban the 3 wheels goofy things because.....well, you know.

I'm north of Galveston, but we see a lot of them, during the event, in the restaurants here. always decent.

 

I'm not saying I don't understand. I'm just saying how the law views it.

there are a faction of folks out there that look to incur a semi.

knowing the lawyer will get a settlement...as much as you want to fight it, the Insurance company will settle to make them go away.

we deal with ~300 trucks a day here (mostly big ugly flat bed loads). God Bless the truckers.

Most of my driving was class B in a roll deck, but I did some low boy oversize hauling as well as other flat bed stuff for equipment and supplies. Never did a van trailer. Definitely enjoyed the roll deck the most as it's simpler/shorter, but can't deny that cranking 18 gears was fun so long as the truck wasn't gutless.

Now they are all going to automatics and any moron that barely has a pulse can get a license. Makes real drivers like @snoope look bad by association. Kinda how the squids make all motorcycle riders look bad.

in a previous lifetime...I was back office healthcare for 10 yrs.

hospitals sell "liable party" info to lawyers. well certain back office folks do. it is not company policy or HIPAA complaint.

when a person comes into the hospital, and claim a wal-mart truck hit them....wal-mart gets put in the system as the "liable party"

the data entry folks sell that shit to lawyers. it's a gold mine.

We're all adults. We can disagree and even get worked up about it, but then simmer down and crack jokes. I think it stems from more than just basic courtesy, but a certain degree of respect for one another. Nobody gets to stuck in their feels and nobody goes out of their way to be a complete shithead.

Don't worry, that guy won't be that guy for very long. One of the neighbor kids left every morning bought a bike and left every morning running full throttle. He rode that way rain or shine. He left the top of one of the high overpasses after hitting a patch of ice one winter. If you don't respect the machine, it will turn on you at some point.
