    I make awkward moments humorous when I can. Her CNA was moving her from her bed to the chair (at her request) and the oxygen line was getting in the way. The CNA said it wasn’t long enough. Naturally, I replied “that’s what she said”. It worked

    Only a couple here know why she’s so special to me (other than her being my last grandparent). I am not close with my parents. Never have, and never will be. My (single then) mother raised us shitty. Bounced around foster homes. My grandmother would pick us up, and hide us from child services. She always made sure we did our homework, and always had food on the table. My goal as a parent is/was to raise and give our children (sports, toys, tech, friends, name brand clothing/shoes, cars, etc.) a better life than we had. My grandmother taught and saved us many times. I’ll never forget that.

    Yesterday she told my wife and I “I feel so bad. I didn’t do anything for you.” I reminded her of those times of growing up and her bailing us out. I never forgot that, and made sure she knew. While it wasn’t recent, it’s still engraved into my brain forever and I’ll never forget that moment or others
