Yes, but we have to make it all the way back after getting the bike, and my buddy has another 5 hour drive home after that.

 

No matter how it all plays out you're getting the bike you want. That's a good friend to jump in on the adventure with you.

 

For sure, on both points. We made a similar trip to Arkansas to get his ATV a few years ago. We are both competent drivers (I helped train him for his CDL) and can bullshit for hours, or just sit in silence. It usually works out. He'll also help rein me in from just being super excited when inspecting the bike.

 

I know zilch about the area… actually hate Vegas with a passion. But if I was blasting thru and just wanted a relaxed place to stay and maybe do some light gambling I would consider South Point Hotel (and Casino). South of the zoo, just off hwy 15 and it looks like there is a parking garage. Your truck with a small trailer should fit just fine. Room rate seems reasonable too…

 

I hate it too. It just feels gross and dirty when I'm there.

That was a legit question. I thought you were retired over on the coast? Do you still get into Vegas?

The M is fine if you don't mind navigating a large Casino (check-in, food, etc...). The location is perfect as it puts you at the south end of the valley and regardless of what is happening w/traffic in the morning, you're south of any BS.

If you'd prefer to be at a more traditional (non-casino place) at the same exit (i-15 @ St. Rose Pkwy), I'd suggest this.... Exit St. Rose Pkwy, head east (northeastish) to the 3200 block of St. Rose Pkwy (about 2-3 miles from the 15); which is Spencer Street running north and Seven Hills Drive running south.

There is a Residence Inn, Hampton Inn, and Best Western Plus all within that same block (I think the BW has a 3000 block address).... All of these properties are reasonably safe (you won't get jacked here, but theft in the parking lots overnight is what it is in Vegas and the casino properties are no better)....



Plus, 'EMPOWERED OBGYN' is right next to you, so if you wake up w/a swollen vagina, help is close by

Here's an expanded view in relation to the 15... The first photo is zoomed in just east (northeast) of the costco in the pic below. It looks like a bit of a drive, but trust me it's a quick shot (2-3 minutes from the 15 to this intersection); it would take you longer to navigate a large parking lot than to get to the above hotels.

St. Rose Pkwy is wider than the 15 (up to 8 lanes across) and people run 50-75mph on it throughout the day; feel free to keep up w/the flow of traffic, but watch for posted limits as the MC cops do write tickets on that road (but usually nothing less than 20 over or blowing red lights).

 

Which airport are you talking about McCarren, NLV, Nellis, Henderson Exec??

 

Not sure. Didn't know they had more than one. I had just searched for a Holiday Inn Express as I know they are generally clean and not too expensive. The one that popped up was by an airport.

 

Stay in the area I pointed out above....

McCarren has numerous places nearby and that area looks like it would be easy on/off (whether you're dealing w/the 15 or the 215), but trust me one wreck before you hit the road or while you're on it, and it's a parking lot w/nowhere to go...

Well that makes The M sound the best if it's not crazy priced. As long as we can get low carb food at decent hours we are good. My diet is voluntary, my buddy's is mandatory for health reasons.

 

Here's a crime map for Las Vegas area (I think published in 2023) but data collected was a one year period 2021-2022... Red circles are homicides; yellow circles are Robberies (I included armed and strong armed robberies and home invasions )

If you google map the area I gave you (start w/the M and work to the northeast along St. Rose) using the satellite view you can see how easy navigating a trailer would be in that area and also the damn super highway that St. Rose is...

If you guys end up on 'the strip' for a little evening fun; just don't go a block east or a block west of the strip and you'll be fine

Texas de Brazil is kinda the tourist BSH destination, and it's right off the 15; but it's 'meh' at best....

There's a place in the SW part of the valley called Picanha that's pretty legit (S. Rainbow Blvd); Definitely out of your way, but if you have time to kill and want meat...

Aside from that the Seven Hills Part of Henderson, which is the area we are talking about which runs from I-15 to about Eastern off St. Rose Pkwy and everything south of that tries to cater to a healthy active way of life (lots of parks, active neighborhoods and such) which means most of your restaurants, bars w/good food, and even fast food places all have low-carb options these days (just order whatever you want 'protein style').

 

NGL, kinda looking forward to Cali weather after this shit.
