Well, I got the Monday through Friday 6-2 position. From everything that has been said and or hinted at it's a temporary position unfortunately but I'm just going to do my best to appreciate it as long as it lasts.

That's my hope and or plan. I'm one person on a small team that will be trialing/testing/learning new equipment so it should be interesting even if it doesn't last.

My Mom's house is almost dead center in the path. We'll be going there for the day, it's out in the country with a nice clear view of the sky. I already have a couple of my Dad's welding goggles set up for viewing the eclipse. If anyone tries to park on her property, we'll charge rent. I doubt it anyone will show up, though.

A modified Pitman Schedule (the modification is trading with whoever I can to stay on days when it is my shifts turn to do a month of nights.)

Not up... still awake from last night

There's a job that popped up for our local electric company (safety coordinator)... It's a little out of my wheelhouse, but they are not requiring any electrical background; just a short background in safety (I can articulate a correlation between that and what I did for a living fairly easily). They also want someone who has critical incident experience (to liaison w/County on ICS stuff during disaster, etc.), and I do have ICS certs plus experience working w/FEMA on a few incidents (that shit is a goat rope). I also have experience w/teaching, lesson plans, policies, case law interpretation, etc. (so that would help)....

Anyhow, starting pay is $109k and it tops out at $137k; which is really not bad for this area... Plus, on top of my pension, I'd be ballin' :D

Not sure how I feel about going back to full-time work (especially on day shift in an office environment) for another 5-10 years, but it would be awesome to have the dual income...

Without trying to sound dramatic, nights ruin my life. They are not good for me physically, emotionally, or mentally. So yes, I agree, a month of nights blows lol.

Yeah that shit definitely isn't for everyone... I'm glad we got to bid shift and folks didn't just get stuck working nights when they didn't want to be. If it's not your thing, it can definitely take a toll on you!!!

We'll see; gotta think through it a bit....

I'm going to try and make contact w/whoever their current guy is and see if I can meet up with him/her and get a feel for it. I'm guessing it's salary and not an hourly gig, so depending on how they approach it that can turn from a $50/hr job to a $35/hr real quick.... I definitely wouldn't be up for working 55-60 hour weeks

Ravioli doesn't have frosting/icing stuck on the outside.

Fair point. If one were to remove the frosting from a poptart, would it then become a ravioli?

Hmmmm. Doesn't ravioli have a cheese filling? So if Kraft made a plain poptart then perhaps?

    Would those be ravioli?

Not all ravioli has cheese. The canned Chef Boyardee stuff for example is a tomato/meat filling.
