Yep...back in 2000 I worked for a company that required us to travel occasionally. I could get a first class upgrade for $20-40 on the day of the flight. A few years ago I had a long layover at LAX and went to the ticket counter to see what an upgrade would be. There were 28 people on the waiting list for an airplane that had 12 first class seats. If you're waiting for a free seat, you're waaaaaiiiiiiting.

 

I don’t travel near the distance you do, but I did manage to send my wife and older daughter to PHX this week in premium class using miles.

 

You're not missing anything. I haven't been on a plane since pre-Great Panic. Not real enthusiastic to break that streak based on what a fiasco air travel has turned into since the world went nuts.

 

Shit - I remember getting on a plane less than two weeks after 9/11. Talk about “world went nuts”

 

I was 6 weeks old for my first commercial flight, remember like it was yesterday..

 

Alaska is good, I prefer Hawaiian though

 

Funny enough, my first flight was to Buckley AFB in CO June 1982

 

My dad was somewhere in the north part of New York State that week. I think he ended up driving across the border then flying home from Toronto or somewhere like that.

And at times miles can be difficult to use. I had about one million miles on Delta but I have finally dropped down to about 400,000 after using a bunch to go to South America for the Antarctica trip.

 

Except for DIA you land in western Kansas!

It is very easy to use miles on Alaska Airlines, but they rape you when you fly within CONUS. I burned more miles flying to Austin during Covid than what I spent for my wife’s ticket to Paris.

Serious question… why are Tesla owners the least likely to use the wireless features in their car?

No chit, I swear half of the Teslas I see have the driver holding their phone and talking on the speaker phone or watching a video.

 

I think you'd be surprised by how many people don't know how and are scared to learn

Like most people my wife uses a computer for work but she is totally freaked out if she has to do anything different or new on it
She is so nervous about the hands free in the car I just turned off the bt
Nothing like ridding down road and when the phone rings through the car speakers she freaks out an stomps the brakes

 

Good point. I just assumed if you are buying the most technically advanced vehicle on the road you are willing to learn new things. Maybe having to learn how to plug in a car is the max amperage (haha) their brains can handle.

Guess I am lucky that my approaching 80 yrs old MinL was willing to learn all the features on her new Rav4.

 

That's funny, I only use it in the Tesla.
I find it annoying in the Tundra and the Sequoia has a janky aftermarket BT setup that I loathe.

 

I'd guess 1 of 2 things.

1. The price of the vehicle generally means you need to be established to purchase. Most people get a bit set in their ways by that point and they know how to use their phone in one way. They keep doing what they know.
2. They bought the most advanced car so it can drive while they stay glued to their screen and gossip about whatever crap idiots gossip about.

 

Bad generalization there dude.

That's like saying everyone that drives a Challenger looks like Joe Dirt

 

My comment was speculation on why those driving on speaker phone do it. It was not a generalization about Tesla drivers.
