Internet only is $80ish/mo for 1gig unlimited.

Upgraded Disney+ to include ESPN and Hulu. Going to dump both ASAP. Disney bought out Hulu so expect them to be combined soon. And ESPN is a joke.

Added HBO Max, which is something like $160/yr.

Formula 1 is $80/yr and bought a $25 Roku dongle so I can run the F1 app or stream from my phone.

It's bundled. High speed fiber internet and expanded cable for $180/month.

I should look into options, who do you have for internet?

 

Anyone use Google fiber? Positive or negative experience? Could it be any worse than Comcast/Xfinity?

 

We are running TDS fiber internet at $40 a month and YouTube tv at $80 a month with unlimited DVR storage. Tons of channels and things to record for us and the kiddos. I just upgraded to the 4K package that lets me download and take my recordings on the go so o don’t have to have WiFi to watch. I think they let you trial it for a few days for free or an extremely discounted rate.

The only other thing we pay for is Disney plus.

I still bum Netflix and HBO max from my parents.

 

I'm looking at switching to iFiber (WA company), $50 for the first year, $60/ month after that. Then get a couple streaming apps

It was all the taxes that pissed me off. All the BS license fees and whatnot.

I am using Comcast Xfinity. I can get fiber here cheaper, but didn’t think the risk of an unknown was worth the $10/mo savings. I also got a couple of extenders for free. Plus I have Xfinity cell service which saves me another $100/mo.

Now that I wrote that, I did skip fiber b/c my total out of pocket would be worse when factoring in my cell plan. Bundling my cells with Xfinity costs me $80/mo for five lines sharing 10gigs. And if I go over, I move a line to unlimited for a month at $30.

 

I looked into it because we have chosen Google as a our poison for all of our services (including cell service provider). Sadly, it's not offered here.

Xfinity is terrible in my town for some reason, so aside from 5g service or satellite, we only have FiOS left.

Do out your math and see what you actually need for service. Hulu suggests something like 25mb/4k stream. We cut our service down to 300mb down/up and haven't noticed any impact. It is still nearly 3x our actual requirement and it's easy to increase to 500 or 1gb with a quick call. Our Internet bill, with all taxes and fees, is $45. The other options were $75 and $100 respectively. They no longer sell or rent routers, it is now included in the pricing.

 

The taxes/fees and slow price increases without notification are really pissing me of lately.
We already have Disney+ but I need live sports, does anyone have Hulu?

 

Well I'm rockin' a 10MB connection that took 5 hours to download HD2, so there!

 

Just made the cut after running cable and Hulu + Live in parallel for a bit. Had to get a chromecast for the two older TVs to support it (much better consistency in picture now), but no regrets so far. We chose Hulu over Youtube because of the minor station differences that was of interest to us. A few bucks more, but I can live with that. Pleasantly surprised and we kept all of the local news stations and sports.

 

I have Hulu for now, but never watch live tv. My bro has Youtube tv and loves it for sports. Especially since he can watch the SeaSquawks from TX.

Man am I glad I'm off after today. I try to be at least useful at work and sometimes even helpful, but today I'm already over it. Feel like I'm beating my head on a wall and I'm tired of the headaches.

I feel for ya. This was part if my day yesterday. There’s a road in there somewhere. Made it back to the main road and they closed the highway. Had to take an alternate route home before they closed that road, too.

 

You all can keep your surprise storms, though we have a smaller impact storm hitting us on Thursday. Mostly wind with a chance for a quick burst of snow after temps drop by 30*. It was nice taking the truck out last night and putting it away without the salt layer all over it. Our roads are bare and ready for bike season right now. Crazy since it's still February.

Question: Anyone ever hire a shipping service to go on location on your behalf and ship something for you? Does that service even exist?

 

You may have to give more details. What kind of location and shipping what?

If it's a freight item I am pretty sure you have to be there, or have somebody there to sign off on it being picked up.

 

A salvage yard, for a part that will be ready for pickup, but needs to be packaged and shipped. GA to MA

Ah. The salvage yard won't package it for you? Then it'd just be arranging pickup for it.
