Holy shit, Steve! Very glad you're still here and on the rehab track. I know several people who've survived a ticker tantrum and have gone on to improve their lives greatly. I hope yours is an upward trajectory!

I've lost 20 pounds (that is the no grease, no cheese part of the diet) and they encourage lots of walking. They say nothing is better than walking to keep the heart pumping. Many kinds of heart attacks - there are electrical problems and plumbing problems. Mine was plumbing (closed off artery) resolved by a couple of stents. I encourage all to get a calcium heart test. It is not covered by insurance but only costs about $80. It will tell you how clogged your heart arteries are. You can think you are healthy but the body may be creating a new arterial path for the clogged ones.

 

In less than 6 months I took my resting heart rate from about 65 to 47 by doing nothing more than cutting down on sugar and walking. Keep at it. I should probably look into the calcium test. I'm generally healthy (for someone in their late 50's), but I've been a sugar-holic most of my life, and the news is that contributes more to heart problems than fat. Plus I have high blood calcium. Can't eat fat, can't eat sugar... Next they're going to tell me whisky and cigars are bad for you.
