Back when mine turned a year old, the fob stopped working along with the app. A call to the dealer confirmed the fob stops working without a subscription. I was disappointed, along with tons of other people on the forum. I don't know what backlash Toyota received for having shut it off for everyone, but a couple of months later I read a post on the forum that it worked fine. I tried it, and sure enough, it was working again, and it's been working ever since. I don't know if that functionality is attached to the head unit - - does anyone with an aftermarket HU still have remote start via fob? If so, I'm not sure how Toyota forced updates that turned that off and then on again.

 

It's tied to the connected services so I don't know that it touches the head unit, but more the GPS side of things. That they have control on their side of, and they could turn off the app for your VIN without disabling the whole thing in the vehicle, which is what they originally did.

I'm sure it's great oil, I just recently switched over to Kirkland.
I suppose I could switch over to M1.

 

Mobil produces Toyota's OEM oil. IDK if they're identical, but I run Mobil in mine.

 

Now it's all duracell.
