I had a coworker that was working on starting his own business making freeze dried keto meals, but wasn’t able to get the state to green light the inspection requirements without a crazy annual permitting fee. Killed the plan and he needed to sell off some of the equipment. We’d need talking about one anyway so it worked out.

 

Quick story,...
When we got the property and started the house build, there was a young couple across the road with a 22 acre farm and old house. An older guy that lived there when he was a kid, contacted them and said if they ever wanted to sell, call him and he'd buy it. Well, that happened and last year he started renovating it.
As I pulled up yesterday, he was pulling out of his driveway, so he stopped by to introduce himself. Super nice, pleasant guy. Said if I ever needed anything, yada yada.
At one point, he said he noticed that I wasn't there much and one of his kids keeps asking him if it's for sale.
Yep, there it is.

When I was in high school, I came across a 1969 Chevelle SS convertible, black with red leather interior with less than 10,000KMS on it. No bullshit. Dude had bought it, drive it on Sundays, parades and special occasions. He died, his wife wanted the memories gone. $7000. I had $3500 saved up. Nobody would loan me the other half because I was a 17 year old kid making $10/hour and my family doesn't understand or care about nice cars. I'm still bitter about that...

Spent 3 hours this morning reviewing batteries for my trailer. Think I've got it figured out. I really, really try hard to buy stuff from USA (or Canada...if you guys made anything besides trees and oil) and I will spend more money to support "NA local". But when your product is 50% more than the competition, you'd better step forward with a real differentiator. When both core products are from China, the competition has the same great reputation, has better features and is actually serviceable, you're distinction cannot be solely US-based customer service.
