What is it with vehicles that burn oil? I haven't had one of those since the early 90's, so I've grown slack checking the oil between 10-20k OCI's.

Anyone else ever pulled the dipstick up and find there's just soot on the bit that should be covered in oil?

Now I'm off to Google 'how long can a 4.0l Frontier engine run without oil', bloody thing took 3 quarts to hit the stick again.
