I'm going to have to give five guys another try. I didn't think they were even close to being worth the money but the last time I went was like three or four years ago

I am old enough to remember when McDonalds cooked to order your burger. Now it is no different than what they served in the junior high cafeteria - a burger sitting in a steam bath of hot water. I remember when Arby's used real beef not the pressed crap they now use. The Arby's motto should be "We have the pressed meat!"

It's not top tier fast food, but it is top tier gluttony food.

Well I have to think about that - what is your definition of "top tier fast food". Taco Bell?

    For tex mex, yes. :p

Burgers, Carl's Jr. used to be. Not sure now, because I have done fast food burgers in a long time.

Burger King is fantastic (as far as fast food goes) as long as it is made fresh.

OK, after my rant last week about the price of a few burgers from 5 guys I decided to take the challenge of a better burger at a fraction of the price. Today I cooked up a few Frozen Bubba Burgers in my cast iron pan, lettuce tomato bacon and cheese. Completely amazing, and in my opinion better than those five filthy bastards who raped me the last time I visited them. Total cost, eight bucks. :smack:

    In the QSR category:
Burgers - Five Guys is the best fast food because unlike McDonalds primary focus is food not fast.
    Mexican - Costa Vida
    Chicken - Chick-fil-a

CFA is right there w/Crumble... big swing and a miss!!!!

Crumbl: Don't know how to spell; don't know how to make a $5 cookie that doesn't taste like every other $5 cookie they make

CFA: Chicken is your freakin' speciality; when I order a crispy chicken sandwich, it should be freakin' crispy... if you can't do that part right, why bother???

We are talking QSR not perfection. What would you choose for chicken? Certainly not Popeyes or KFC or Zaxbys.
Cookies - we agree. None of those $5 cookies covered with loads of frosting are worth anything. Do not tast good and certainly not worth the calories. (Same for the silly cupcake joints.)

A&W is our go-to for burgers because they're the only ones who offer a veggie burger and my wife is vegetarian.

For Tex-Mex, Bar Burrito is my new favourite. Mucho Burrito can be good but the one near us has shit-all for toppings. Taco Time is decent. Taco Bell is shit.

I don't think I've ever ordered chicken at a fast food restaurant in my life.

My biggest complaint about them is their tiny portion size, every order seems like a kids meal. :boink:

If we are talking strictly fast food chicken: Krispy Krunchy Chicken would be my go-to  It's a weird kind of franchise that exists at service stations and other similar venues. Strangely though, almost every time I've had a craving and grabbed some... it's always been pretty decent; good seasoning, reasonably fresh and a good crunch (regardless of location and I've tried it in a few different states)!!!

    Definitely no KFC :puke:

    I've never had Zaxbys...

Glad DQ is getting represented. I was about to post the same thing, but then I realized half the people in MA didn't know DQ served food.

And while not burgers, I still dig the classic chicken with cheese from BK, so I cant agree with people taking them off the list.

    Sincerely,
    Fatty McFatty

I'm 50 and McDonald's & BK have been frozen shit patties my whole life.
I like places like 5 guys and Chili's burgers because it's a handful of fresh ground beef, made into a burger on the spot. Just like a homemade burger. When you think about a Chick-fil-A sandwich, it really isn't that big of a deal. But, it's a real piece of chicken and it tastes good. That's rare around here and people went nuts for it when it showed up a few years ago. McDonald's wasn't real chicken and places like Wendy's or whatever may have one, but all you taste is breading and toppings.
The best burger in the country is Laguna Burger in NM. Nothing crazy, just a fresh, handmade burger at a burger joint.
But I'd fist fight a baby over it.
It was a planned stop on a cross country road trip a few years ago. A few years before that, I wanted to do a mini trip, to see if my wife liked AZ and if her back could handle a lot of driving. So, we flew into Albuquerque, rented a mini van and did a 4 day road trip around AZ. When we got to Albuquerque I asked where we could get lunch and someone said Laguna Burger was good.
It was so good that it was a stop on the map the next time we drove cross country.
