Just like we have to surrender the plates and relicense the rig if we buy used, even if the previous owner reversed the day before.

 

In OR, you can transfer the registration to the buyer (or technically the new buyer transfers it with the title).

If it wasn’t for the OR income tax, I’d be considering the move. Right now, I kind of get the best of both worlds though - no income tax here and a short trip over the river for no sales tax…except on cars because they (WA) get you when you register it either way.

I have to say RCI did a really nice job on the powder coating; these damn things are definitely heavy. Wife helped balance up and onto the floor jack; once there they were pretty easy to manipulate

A separate LLC to own a vehicle is typically done to avoid paying sales taxes - especially for the large motor homes. [A "cheap" motor home at $100,000 with a sales tax rate of 6% is $60,000 in sale tax savings.] It is not done generally to avoid registration fees. There are large motor home dealers in Montana that have a lawyer on staff to create the LLC for customers (because of no sales tax) and then they serve as your postal box for the address of your LLC.
Some states have property taxes on certain types of personal property such as vehicles because they do not have other types of taxes. And some states simply have registration fees that are not taxes (and not tax deductible). Those of us in states with income tax typically do not have (or have lower) personal property vehicle taxes. Thus, @GODZILLA pays ZERO state income tax but has high property taxes. Unlike the Federal government that lives on debt, States must have balanced budgets and if they do not collect income taxes then they have other taxes (although Wyoming has a great benefit from coal severance taxes that some are trying to kill). Pick your poison.

Those look good. I assume the holes in the top are for the step cover. Did you get those?

 

I ordered w/o top plates; that is one thing that kinda sucks is having those pre-drilled holes... That particular photo they really stand out, but from most angles you really don't see them because they are somewhat recessed.

I just did not care for how RCI's top plates looked. My plan is to run them like this for a bit and see how it goes; if I decide on a top plate I'll have one of the local welders do something custom that look better than a row of circles

The guy that welded my backer-plate/nut/welding rod combo is really quite reasonable (just slow), so if I can be patient w/him it wouldn't be too pricey!!

So I went to Meijer, spotted a Tundra and more!

 

We get to donate 5.5% of our income to CT currently plus 6.35% sales tax on anything we buy. 5 cents per bottle or can on any non-juice beverage including water. They also hit us a 35 to 36 cents per gallon in gas tax. Apparently that wasn't enough and they were tossing around the idea of tolls on top of that.

No idea why anyone would want to live here.

 

We have all that, plus it's 9%, plus the tolls.
We spent a bunch of our money installing new electronic tollbooths during the bat virus shutdown so we can pay automatically.
That's like telling your mugger,..."wait, take what I have in my pocket, then let me go home and get more money, so you can go buy a better gun to rob me with,.....wait right here?..."
