It's definitely not good if you need a full size truck. For a midsize you can't beat it on crappy roads or off road. The Ranger is cushier, but also doesn't drive as small. A buddy said his brother's Frontier (new model) is way stiffer and would suck on anything but smooth pavement. The Ridgeline is definitely geared for the city. All depends on what you want, but downsizing does take some adjusting.

A lot of people love them, so I'm sure there's way more positives than negatives. Like you said though, coming from a Tundra,I pretty much hate everything about it. The size, the way it handles on pavement, right down to the way the hvac controls are laid out. The power actually isn't bad, as I'm sure it's heavy for it's size, but I really hate the way V6s sound. It reminds me of an old Chevy S10. I'll bet they're great little trucks to have on trails, but I would never own one as a DD.
I've seen a bunch with the crew cab and longer bed. I wonder if they handle a bit differently. This one has the crew cab and really tiny bed. I'd say it's because it's a rental and beat on, but it only has 28k on it.

Is it a TRD Sport or a TRD Off Road? That will change the behavior alot.

I wish. If it were Sunday I'd only have two shifts left before going off duty for 3 weeks.

    It's aTuRD off-road.
I've only had it for a couple weeks and only use it to commute. If I needed a smaller trail vehicle, I'd probably pick this over a jeep, etc. But I miss my Tundra.

Makes sense. It will definitely have a different feel than a full size, but as long as you prepare for that I don't find the Taco bad at all. I may be a bit biased because I wanted a Taco when I bought my Tundra, but I loved the Tundra while I had it too.

That'll be the likely outcome. I've got one nice framed picture from years ago, her two favorite toys, leash and collar. I might do a shadow box for the toys, leash, and collar. It'll be my little remembrance shelf/shrine.

I wanted to swap the grille surround,..so I fuckn smashed it into a minivan.
I really didn't wanna talk about it. Still find it hard to believe it happened.
2 months after totalling my van, the pita it was to find a low mile DCLB, flying to VA and driving it home,......some retard decided he needed to be in the space between me and the car in front of me at 55 mph and within seconds of me taking my foot off the gas, I didn't even finish calling him a dumb motherfuc.....the cocksucker in front of him slammed their breaks, which I couldn't see because he was too close and I couldn't stop in time. Basically, he just cut in front of me with no warning or signal and then immediately slammed his brakes. Not slow down,.....just stopped.
They have it at the shop a block from my house. No frame damage, but whole front end, radiator, driver inner/outer fender, battery and mount, fuse box and clutch fan was pushed in on its shaft.
It leaked a little, but was still driving.
Up to $15k now, unless they found more.
Still don't wanna talk about it.
Oh, and 4 days into having the rental, the goddam front tire blew out getting off the thruway on the way home from work. That was a whole 4 hr fiasco.

Another odd behavior with the pit the last couple of days. At random times (lately in evenings) he refuses to leave the side of one of us. He’ll just follow one of us around, and won’t go to “his spot” on the couch with the blanket. He has to sit right next to one of us

A buddy at work is getting his '22 Cummins bought back by the dealer.
They've had the cab off twice replacing motor internals.
I might have another Tundra convert. :D

Thanks @Randy Morton for the referral to brentdent. He can't do the job because he's only PDR and the truck will need more extensive repair, but he's a great guy. The roof will likely need to be replaced, and possibly the hood, and one hit on the edge just above the A pillar will need a heavier hand than PDR. He was straightforward with me about it. Even gave me a referral to a good paint guy, and great advice on waiting to get it repaired until the body shops are back to normal staff. He said the hail in the past month has forced shops to hire off the street, and quality suffers because of it. Once the high traffic dies down, they'll lay off until they're back to only their best guys. I wouldn't have even thought about that.

The last time I had that much work done on a vehicle, the interior was fully jacked up when I got it back. I'm not looking forward to this.

We've had more hail in the last month than the last decade, and this is a real fear for me. Sucks that you have to deal with this, but I hope you get a good honest shop and that it all goes smoothly with insurance.
