Chickens are a bit more convenient to raise than ducks, and a few breeds lay eggs damn near as big as ducks. Yes, the duck eggs are a bit “richer” but there are times where it’s too much for me.

 

There’s a dude in the next row of cubicles that won’t shut the phuk up. He has been vomiting nonsense for the entire 25 min I’ve been here. The Donk sounds like Sam Elliot, so my brain is torn from asking him to STFU or asking him to cook me a steak. Or tell me a story about Dalton.

I think all the virtual time during Covid made it worse. People like me lost the ability to tune out the background conversations. And people that like the sound of their own voice lost the imprisoned audience of people stuck at their desk. Now they need to talk more (and louder) and I cannot tune them out. Good times.

 

Walk over and very politely say "Hey guys, I'm having trouble hearing on my phone over here. Can we try to keep the volume down a little bit?"

It's professional but makes them aware that they need to be self aware.

Cute…but no. Dunno how people in WY would respond but here there’s a high risk that person would want to talk the issue to death. It’s just another excuse to pontificate.

If they try to carry it on, then it goes from polite to "Hey, you're being disruptive. I can lodge a formal complaint, or you can be polite."

Yeah… the people that are oblivious to the volume of their voice tend to be the ones that don’t respond well to these types of asks. There was a guy a couple cubicles over at my old job that would be almost yelling during calls, which was bad enough when he was sitting, but would raise his standing desk and sing the song of his people to the entire office. He was told numerous times to knock it off, ranging from polite to angry methods, and even nerf darts, but never changed.

 

I'm loud, but when asked to be quiet I try to be. I generally try to be self aware, but sometimes I miss it.

 

I was thinking shoe polish on the ear and mouth pieces

 

Bet real darts would've changed his mind...

 

Work has not been really fun today. Though we've been so crushed nobody got to go to lunch, so the boss bought us all pizza. That was nice, and I resisted as long as I could, but eventually caved and ate a couple pieces. Back on the diet wagon now.
