    All reasonable choices…
But I feel like you haven’t really learned to appreciate a good vehicle until you’ve had a shitbox.

in all honesty - the older one started with a Jeep Liberty that was totaled within a week of her getting her DL. A gal turned left in front of her at 50mph and she rolled it over in the ditch after impact.

we replaced that with a 2008 Impreza hatchback manual that had been driven a lot harder than it appeared on the surface. We went through two clutches in that car (one was actually faulty and the parts were warranteed), and replaced the transmission when it grenaded (back to that driven harder than it appeared- that transmission was fucked when we bought it but didn’t come to light until the clutch went). It also didn’t help that my daughter, while noble in her desire to learn how to drive a manual, does not have the patience or attention span to do so well, but she was only a contributor to the problems.

Got it cleaned up and sold off and then put her in a 2008 Forester (automatic this time). Then her BF (at the time) lifted it, put oversized wheels/tires on it (with wheel spacers), and a massive sub in the trunk. It’s been mostly a good car though. This past summer we redid the head gaskets and timing belt, and it’s just started showing a CEL with 280k on the clock.

The younger daughter got a 2011 Impreza Sedan that was an accident magnet. Like people would hit the fucking thing parked. We had body work done on it 5 times - none of which were her fault, and four of which were parked. The final straw was when she got sideswiped by a drunk driver New Year’s Eve and it was totaled. So now she’s driving my wife’s old 2017 Forester and my wife has a newer 2021 Forester.

Eventually, I want to facilitate getting the older one into the 2017 Forester and getting the younger one into a decent Tacoma.

    Well I wasn't suggesting a newer Corolla. I'm thinking a 2006.

I seen a 2006 RAV4 the other day with just over 100k miles for 10k. More than I want to spend, but I get it.

And register. The Lexus is like 60.00 per year and my truck just dropped below 500.00 per year now that it's 6+ years old.

Is that one of those places that provides shitty service on purpose? There was a chain in the midwest at one time “Ed DeBevik’s” or something like that.

I remember my parents talking about that place as a kid, we had two pinkish cups from there my dad would always drink from.

Nope. She (waitress) is just horrible. I’m leaving a 10% tip. I told the wife go ahead and do 7% so she gets the message.
Food was also bland and dry.

Weather report on two different apps agreed today was going to be solid rain all day. Planned our day accordingly.

Has not rained since this morning. Everything is dry and there was some sun off and on.

All this tech in the world and I still cannot remotely nut punch the weather forecaster.
