Which part are you referring to? If you enjoy spending thousands on wedding go for it? Whatever tickles ur pickle. I’m (we’re) almost 18 years strong married. You’re missing the point

I also got married young - if you make it the first 5-7 years getting married young I think you’ll find your relationship has a level of commitment that is almost impossible to replicate meeting later in life. I’m under 40 and my spouse and I have been a couple the majority of our lives.

    Agree....

and just to add to this... I was raised to think that career, spouse, home and 'stable' life were absolutely necessary to have in place before starting a 'family'. Unfortunately, I fell into the trap of 'stability' meaning a perfect scenario/lifestyle. There was always something that needed to be done first: Travel, bigger home, career, etc... and unfortunately for me I waited too long. In a blink of an eye I was in my late 40s preparing to retire, and the possibility of having children had passed.

Point being, there is no 'perfect time' to start a family in ones life. I'm not advocating just popping out random kids w/random people, but no matter what comes your way in life, you'll find a way to make it work (and you'll not only survive but thrive) if that's your character and how you are wired. If you're wired to be a 'victim of circumstance' or choose to rely only on others for the rest of your life and never stand on your own feet, then that's what you'll be regardless of your 'timing' in becoming a parent or anything else.

I'm not sure if that made sense, but hopefully it did!!!

A lot of truth here. Kids tend to be a fire that burns the chaff off a person's life. You and everyone else will find out what you're made of. I guess there are folks that would make better parents at 40 than they would have at 20; but by whatever measure you call yourself an adult, that's the cutoff for excuses.

I have a good friend who decided with his wife not to have kids. They're in their early 60's now; and only regret it a tad, every once in a while. They dote on nieces and nephews, and each other, and they have happy lives. I'm sure they would have made good parents, but it just wasn't for them.

Our wedding was terrific - - no stress, and not much planning. Admittedly the cost wasn't as much of a worry as it would have been if we were just starting out in life (I was in my early 40's); but she's Catholic, so before she said what she wanted, I was imagining the whole Catholic shebang. Turns out she wanted a good restaurant as a venue (there's a Kent Rathbun place down the way that was perfect), a small group of only family and very close friends, and the shortest ceremony that could be called a ceremony. Rites were about 4 minutes long from march to married; and the next four hours were food, liquor, dancing, and laughing. It was a really great time, and zero real stress. Now that I'm reminiscing, it feels like last week...

Good call! Seen too much of that around here with the wind storms to even risk it. Especially with the warmer weather and the snow melt. The ground is pretty squishy in spots.

It’s always a worry. My neighbor three houses down had a biggen’ fall on his mothers bedroom. Luckily he was able to dig her out and she was ok but I don’t need to take any chances.
Couch for the girls and the spare king bedroom for us. Why not.

11.5 mpg over 500 miles. 100 miles from tri-cities into the east end of the gorge was sub-10mpg
I’ve driven that trip dozens of times…I’ve never had a headwind like that. I can’t imagine trying today’s drive in a tractor trailer…

Winds coming out of the West can be nuts in that area. Glad you're okay...those kinds of winds flip big rigs and shut the highway down...
