Apparently he’s admitted to using more than just S&P. Mad Scientist BBQ YouTube did a vid on it.

Franklin’s BBQ is pure heaven. We where down in Austin 5ish years ago and ordered everything. Skip the turkey; crush the rest.

Went here when I was in Austin in 2020. Their brisket is better than Franklins. https://www.valentinastexmexbbq.com/

I really need to get off of my ass and get to some of these places around here. We had Micklethwaits just up the street from us, which turned into my weekly "church". They'd even joke about doing the cross on my forehead with bbq sauce.

Our town had Zimmerhanzels which apparently was Willie Nelson's favorite BBQ.

Snow's BBQ isn't too far from here and Franklin's is a must. I'll add Valentinas to the wishlist.

    Ditto.

Dog barked at something at 2:30 then the kid was up at 4:45 and again at 5:15 playing with a noisy toy. Now I'm groggy and regretting not just getting up at 5:15.

It fluctuates in the rankings. Texas Monthly has started focusing less on the basic bbq (brisket, ribs, etc) and more on the fusion stuff that all of the hip kids like. As far as basic Texas BBQ, I’m sure it’s at or near the top, along with Snows and the one out in Taylor, Texas.
