Sounds like my wife. She was complaining the other day about needing a "day off" and at that point she had slept for about 20 of the previous 24 or 25 hours.

Wife wants to make popovers for Christmas dinner. We have gluten and dairy sensitivities in the family so she’s been practicing with GF flour and alternative milk for the past few weeks (I’ve already put on the holiday weight).

That’s all dialed in now, so the final test is to replace the melted butter in the base of the tins with:8DECE9B7-D467-470B-8275-F4E3A8044AF3.jpgThese will be spectacular with the prime rib roast I’m smoking…

No problem... It's also good for hot sand, etc. as it provides a barrier. But, I would definitely do booties on hot asphalt as I've pinged temps upwards of 180 on asphalt in Vegas during the summer, and you'll burn the crap out of their pads in about 5 minutes in those conditions.

Dogs w/very dark pads are more resilient but are more prone to cracking. Dogs w/lighter (even pinkish pads) are much softer but less resilient to punctures, environment, etc....

I'm always looking for ways to keep the pups working comfortably :hattip:

Ok, so I had a thought last night regarding parking sonar...

I know you were saying that the integration was a PITA w/adding sonar to your '21 due to ECU, etc...

I'm guessing (but I could be wrong), that the system in my '08 is less integrated, and I was wondering if you think it would be easier to integrate a system from a Gen 2 instead of using something from a gen 2.5?

The system in my '08 (push button on dash to the left of HU and display in the clock/weather area on the dash) seems to be button to activate, sensors in the bumpers, display and audio to alert, and tied into the shift position (they are inactive in park, D is fronts only and R is rears only)

Just thought I'd see what you think about this since you've also owned an '08 and a '21 :notsure:

My '08 didn't have sonar either.
In the '08, what displays the actual warning?

Just looked at the EWD for the 2008 - the systems are not significantly different, except that the "Clearance Sonar ECU" outputs to the "Clearance Sonar Indicator and Buzzer" instead of to the instrument cluster. But, if you were going to try to put a 2008 system into a 2021, you'd have to adapt all of the connectors and other wiring to the older components.

I'm getting ready to head out w/a couple of dogs; I'll grab a couple of photos to depict the set up. I think we had a different package on our rigs. I remember you saying your back up cam was displayed on the rear view mirror. Mine is displayed at on the nav screen of the head unit.

I have an SR5 w/a JBL, NAV and Sunroof package... I'd have to look at the window sticker to see which part of the "packages" included the sonar.

Anyhow, I'll grab a couple of pics and post them when I get back...

So, is the 'ECU' for the sonar it's own little beast or is it tied into the main unit?

I had an SR5 with JBL, but not NAV or Sunroof. My backup camera was displaying in a tiny 3" screen that would pop down from the front (sunglasses holder) of the overhead console. So there was no Sonar. I did eventually add the Optitron gage cluster to mine, which moved the MPG display from the center dash clock to the instrument cluster.

It is its own little unit. In the 2021, it lives up behind the glove box next to the 4WD ECU. In the 2008, it's also in that spot. Interestingly, they both have the same connector number (J35) but the connector shape is considerably different.

The older sonar sensors have a different connector as well.

Where is the actual PARKING SONAR displayed?

    Gotcha
Yeah - you’d have to basically manually wire everything AND find a place to mount that display cluster (it’s all one unit).

Honestly, I say the install of this system is a PITA because it has been for me with so the extra troubleshooting, and I simply don’t see enough value in the result for what it cost. But there are people that really like their parking sonar and for them the effort may be worth it. They actually installation is probably more straight forward than doing the BSM (other than replacing or drilling holes in the bumpers for the sensors). Neither system is cheap to add… adding the wiring at once would be a smart move.

I think my biggest issue is that I've become so accustomed to it that when I'm parking (especially backing up) the '21 I find myself not even looking at the back up cam and just listening for the sonar.... I've almost plugged my garage door a couple of times w/the new one doing that. Now that I've got the FRAC harness front cam en route, I'm hoping to break that habit a bit when driving the '21; but I've ran this system now since '08 and it's hard to think it's there when it's not.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Not sure if that is worse (at least that dude took a second to list his vehicle and few other things about himself), or the guys that creates an account to resolve a problem but won't even take a minute to do a reasonable profile, articulate his trim level, photos of the issue or even have the common courtesy to articulate a full sentence and explain their issue in detail. Just 'camera broke'; then 2 posts later bitch that they aren't getting help from the dealership or this forum :notsure:

Back up camera 2013 not working

Not sure why people expect folks to invest their time in helping them when they make zero effort to invest themselves and their time :der:
