Friendly tip to avoid this in future, do what my Mom did. Whoever throws up has to clean it up. Nothing inspires kids to make it to the toilet like knowing they'll have to clean it up! I think she started us on that policy around age 4 or 5. We all started making it to the toilet.

Do you get to have fun/free time when you travel? Might be ok if you get to have a mini vacation on the trip.

Still waiting on the Taco. Best case was going to be a Black Friday pickup anyway, but not sire it'll be at the dealer by then.

Yup. Texas dealer that @RobertD and @Squatting Pigeon recommended. Just waiting for it to arrive so I can figure out what set of days off I'll use to make the trip. I was hoping to start the trip Wednesday morning/afternoon, but it might have to wait for one of my weeks off in December. All depends on when it gets delivered. I'm just stoked to be getting it.

I just looked at my work schedule. Really hoping the truck shows up by Wednesday. If it doesn't, I'll have to wait until December 7th to go get it. If it hasn't arrived by the 7th, I won't have enough days off together to go get it until after the first of the year.

OT is good for the holidays. I've got some coming up next month as well. It'll basically pay for the trip to get the taco.

 

Damn. That's sweet! I've never flown first class, and I don't dare. Too expensive, and I think I'd struggle to go backwards after being spoiled.

Yep. Starting next year any and all toys need to come off OT savings. Just worked out the 2023 GT homestead budget and my fun money is gone. G. O. N. E.

On a related note (for the US peeps) anyone notice the 401k contribution limit goes up $2k in 2023? And if you are turning 50 <cough> you get to raise the pre-tax contribution limit another $7.5k for “catch-up”.

That’s most of my budget pain. But all my utilities have gone up significantly the past few months. Plus food inflation. Plus likely going full time back to the office means lots of fuel for GT. Plus the oldest is already “nickel and diming” me with pre-college expenses. Plus increased healthcare because the young shits in my union cannot be bothered to read the contract summary before voting…nor do they have the ability to think beyond themselves.

Very glad we didn’t upgrade our trailer a few months ago. Dodged a bullet on that one.

 

Yup. I'm thinking toys will be on a sell one to buy another policy. fairly sure the Motorcycle I've wanted for a couple years is in stock a few hours away, but to get it I think I'd have to sell/trade my SxS. Not sure I'm willing to do that.

 

I’ve got my eyes on some sliders and a new smoker. Hopefully go on sale once I have the scratch…

 

What sliders did you end up settling on?

Did you see that RCI is running 20% off?

If you get them, I recommend getting top plates. I don't really like the look of top plates but after slinging mud and snow up and having it build a mound that the door has to be pushed through to open... I'd go function over form on the top plates.

I like the look (except their top plates) but I wasn't willing to drill my frame. That was a huge factor for me going RCI. That, and they aren't too far away from me so it kept freight down.

 

I’m the same; don’t want to drill into the frame. Otherwise I’d probably have a set of white knuckles already.

I didn’t know about the RCI sale, but their shipping to me is excessive. Might have to look again…

And since I’m wide awake right now…

 

They are doing a better deal than when I bought all my armor. I did sliders and skids for the engine, transmission, and fuel tank with a 15% discount. Now they are doing 20%. Inflation prices may basically put it to the same deal, but 15-20% is about as good a deal as I have ever seen on any sliders. You might be able to get the freight a little lower if you have a commercial address with a forklift available, too. That was something I did on mine.

 

Shipping is nearly $600, which is the killer for me. But that discount basically covers half of shipping…need to ponder that.
