No straps but it has elastic running around the whole thing so it stays pretty tight.

It has a strap system (red and dotted red lines) with a couple clips (green circles) and a ratchet for tightening it all around the base (aqua circle).

 

Time for my annual rant about the company I used to work for. At the end of DST, the guys working night shift get paid 13 hours because they worked 13 hours - perfectly fair. At the start of DST, they get paid for 12 hours because union, or something.

Interesting lesson learned on the Blackstone. I’ve never believed the whole “oil into the metal’s pores” crap when seasoning a grill or smoker. Guess I’d need to see that actually happening at a molecular level before buying into the concept.

But today…I cooked burgers on the BS two weeks ago and didn’t clean the grill. Did a good scraping this morning and it looked nice and clean, but the food still pulled a lot of beef fat out when cooking. Both the spam and hash browns had bit of a beef flavor. Crazy.

Not sure that proves the “pores” idea, but I will now be sure to cook-off the grill before each use.

 

You just need to cook bacon on it before each use. Adding bacon flavor is never wrong. Ever.

As a long time user of cast iron and good stoneware, I don’t need to see the scientific explanation to know you need to season it right - the pores matter.

I’ve also got a mom and brother who are hyper sensitive to something in beef (debilitating food allergy) and I’ve witnessed first hand the effects of something cooked on the same griddle as beef without a thorough cleaning. It’s like a super celiac dealing with a salad that has been prepared in the same container that has had a crouton salad in it without thorough cleaning between.

The more time I spend on TW, the more I love Tundras. Don't get me wrong, there's some good peeps, and it's not all bad, but..... reading comprehension, site tools, punctuation... none of these are used over there.

I quoted a guy I disagreed with, and somebody else quoted me to make the same point that I had made. I don't know if the guy was just saying he agreed with me (his phasing makes me doubt this), I don't know if he doesn't understand that the quoted message in my post was not said by me, if he completely misunderstood and thought I was agreeing with the guy I quoted, or if everyone over there is just drunk and bumbling about on their keyboards and quoting the wrong people.

 

I guess it could be a language thing? Maybe I'm a dick and English isn't his first language.

 

Came back on a few hours ago. Just after pizza arrived for lunch…
